<p><strong><u>Job Description</u></strong></p><p><br></p><p>Join our SeaWorld Abu Dhabi team!</p><p><br></p><p>As a Zoological Specialist in the Zoo Support & Rescue section, you will ensure a smooth and efficient operations of the SeaWorld Abu Dhabi facilities in Zoological Department by safely fulfilling the duties in animal/guest interactions, animal training, husbandry, enrichment, general public presentations, and research.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>This position requires standing in a prolonged period, moves/lifts up to 25-30kgs of load; also requires working in varying shifts based on business need. This includes opening, mid, and closing shifts, nights, weekends and holidays.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>The job scope also includes:</p><p><br></p><ul><li>Daily food preparation</li><li>Cleaning tanks/enclosures and facility</li><li>Feeding/caring for sea turtles</li><li>Coordinating rescues and organizing logistics</li><li>All aspects of general animal husbandry</li><li>Maintenance task to operate the turtle rehabilitation facility (operating pool pump, sea pump, heat pump</li><li>General property maintenance (cleaning, mowing, raking, sweeping, swimming pool maintenance etc.)</li><li>Assist with the rehabilitation of sea turtles with direct animal care including feeding, cleaning, medical procedures and care, rescues, releases, water quality, tank cleaning, maintenance of systems and habitat and a variety of other tasks</li><li>Marine mammal rescue involves capture, handling, and transport</li><li>Assessing distressed marine mammals</li><li>Working independently and in small teams</li><li>Utilizing hoop net and floating net capture systems</li><li>Capturing and carrying marine mammals of all sizes</li><li>Working on jetties, shorelines, beaches, and piers</li><li>Performs other duties as assigned</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>To be considered for this role, you will need to have:</strong></p><p><br></p><ul><li>High School diploma and/or degree in Psychology, Zoology or Biology or equivalent</li><li>2 years of relatable animal experience in a professional setting</li><li>Basic understanding of marine mammal, avian, and reptilian husbandry/rescue/rehabilitation techniques</li><li>Sea turtle rehabilitation and medicine experience preferred</li><li>Experience with drawing blood, preparing, and understanding blood chemistry, shoot radiographs, administer injections, assist in surgeries, tube feed, and all related duties on a sea turtle preferred</li><li>Detail oriented and self-motivated</li><li>Physically fit and excellent swimming skills as you will be expected to participate in sea turtle rescues in and out of the water</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English</li><li>Basic computer knowledge including MS Office and animal recording system</li><li>Ability to successfully pass an area swim test within the first 60 days of hire or holding a Certification in Open Water SCUBA</li></ul><p><br></p><p>Interested in this opportunity?
