About the job Yard Chargehand Overview

Container operations: placing or removing twistlocks or under deck stackers in the corners of containers being loaded or discharged from a ship to or from a trailer.

Ro Ro operations: winding up/down the legs of trailers being loaded or discharged from ferries.

Responsibilities

• Perform the labouring functions described in the Job purpose above in
  a safe manner whilst maximising productivity and efficiency, and
  meeting Company performance standards. Carry out any other
  labouring functions as required e.g setting up or moving cut-out trailer
  barriers or remote twistlock stations.
• Ensure all work is completed to the required standard and in
  accordance with customer requirements.
• Fully comply with all rules/standards on attendance, timekeeping,
  conduct and behaviour. Do not leave your place of work without
  permission from the relevant person.
• Communicate effectively with all colleagues on operational issues.
• Maintain a positive, constructive and can do approach to change/improvements in the Stevedore section and the overall quayside operation, taking a proactive role in the introduction of new
• work systems.
• Be vigilant within own working area regarding Health & Safety hazards
• & risks. Maintain knowledge of all relevant H&S Policies & Procedures,
  ensuring that own working practices are in accordance with them. Pay
  particular attention to visitors & third parties in the working area.
• Wear the correct protective clothing at all times.
• Report any damage to the appropriate person.
• Be prepared to undertake any duty in any area of the Port within your
  capability and where licenses permit.
• Ensure compliance to all policies, procedures and standard operating
  practices, with recommendations for action and continuous
  improvement.

Requirements/Qualification

• FILIPINO only
• At least High School Diploma
• Should have completed at least 30 hours of relevant training from credible Safety organizations; certificates of attendance/completion required.
• Physically fit, no fear of heights and must possess excellent sensory acuity.
• Average English skills in both oral and written form.
