UN Women Libya has strengthened its programme presence in Libya, responding to the complex governance, humanitarian, development, and security challenges through its triple mandate. UN Women’s Libya’s premise is that peacebuilding efforts, including political dialogues, conflict resolution, and humanitarian efforts will be more effective and have higher chances of success if they are inclusive, responding to gendered experiences, needs, capacities, and interests the Libyan women across their diversities, this includes supporting women’s participation in peace processes at all levels. The program is aligned with the UNSDCF 2023-2025, UN Women Global Strategic Plan (2022-2025) as well as the international conventions on women and human rights.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Women, Peace, Security and Humanitarian Action Programme Officer, and the overall supervision of UN Women Libya Head of programmes, the Intern will work in close collaboration with the Programme Team, ensuring timely support in carrying out proper processes and activities related to the Programme as well as other cross-cutting areas of knowledge management, research, and analysis. The intern is expected to undertake the following specific task;
Provide technical support to the formulation and management of WPS programmes;
+ Support the implementation of programme activities;
+ Support in Identifying sources, gathering and compiling data and information for the preparation of documents, guidelines, speeches and position papers, in collaboration with the Programme team.
Provide technical inputs to the financial management of the WPS Programme Unit;
+ Provide administrative support in monitoring and preparation of budget and the finances of programmes/projects.;
+ Support in the preparation of PO packages for development projects events as required;
Contribute to building partnerships and resource mobilization strategies;
+ Contribute with inputs to resource mobilization strategies ;
+ Contribute to analysing and maintaining information and databases;
+ Contribute to Providing inputs to relevant documentation such as project summaries, conference papers, briefing notes, speeches, and donor profiles.

Provide inputs to advocacy, knowledge building/sharing and communication efforts;
– Assist in providing technical inputs to background documents, briefs and presentations related to gender response;
– Support in the Coordination and support the organization of advocacy activities and campaigns events, trainings, workshops and knowledge products;
– Assist with updating communication platforms, including social media and the preparation of newsletters and media content;
– Provide inputs to the development of knowledge management products on WPS;
– Proofread English and Arabic translated documents and assist with translation or interpretation as required;
– Support in the coordination and the organization of trainings for the office staff and partners on programme and operations related issues.
– Support the organization of local and regional events under the WPS Projects, with a particular focus on communication and visibility;
– Support the Communications Officer to prepare media analysis and screening reports of humanitarian and development related reports, analysis and policy notes.

Provide administrative support to the WPS Programme Unit;
– Support logistical, administrative, and financial arrangements for the organization of meetings, workshops, events, and missions;
– Draft minutes in meetings as required;
– Assemble briefing materials and prepare power-point and other presentations, in collaboration with the WPS Programme team;
– Support in organizing and coordination of filing of documents and maintaining mailing lists;
– Perform any other communication, administrative and logistical duties as requested by the WPS Programme Officer.

Required Skills and Experience
Education:
University studies in one of the following disciplines: gender studies, human rights, international relations, Journalism School, or other relevant subjects is required. or other relevant subjects is required;
Meet one of the following:
+ Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
+ Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
+ Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation; or
+ Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program which is part of a degree programme and undertake the internship as part of the program requirements.
Language:
Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English and Arabic are required.;
Working knowledge of French is an advantage.
Renumeration:
Interns who are not in receipt of financial support from other sources such as universities or other institutions will receive a stipend from UN Women to partially subsidize their basic living costs for the duration of the internship.
