Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate and supervise all geological operations at the well site with close collaboration with operation geologist in Muscat office.
  • Geological interpretation of the formation evaluation data. Analyze, evaluate and describe formations while drilling, using data from sources such as cuttings, gas, measuring while drilling (MWD) and logging while drilling (LWD) tools, and wireline logs.
  • Ensure all relevant geological information is acquired, recorded at the highest possible quality.
  • Supervision of Formation Evaluation contractors (Mud Logging, Coring, MWD/ LWD & Wireline Logging).
  • Logistics concerning the formation evaluation contractors and their equipment.
  • Follow and ensure safety aspects for the well and personnel during these acquisition operations.
  • Quality control of all evaluation results and logs prior to accepting the data or logs from those contractors.
  • Keep detailed records, write reports, complete daily, weekly, and post-well reporting logs and send these to G&G department of Company
  • Verify all reports and logs from the evaluation contractors prior to sending them toCompany office
  • Monitor and supervise collection, processing, and dispatch of formation evaluation samples.
  • Safeguarding collection, storage and transmission of information and reports from wellsite to office.
  • Keep the drilling supervisor (Co-man) and Operations Geologist fully informed of all formation evaluation operations at the wellsite.
  • During all operations promotes an HSE culture.
  • Report to operations geologist.
  • Accountable for acquiring, storing, and transmitting all relevant geological information & data from the well site.
  • Ensure that all logging operations are conducted safely and efficiently in accordance with the approved geological program, specific daily instructions and any other instruction given by Operation Geologist.
  • Consult, inform and seek approval of the Operations Geologist of any operation plan changes.

Requirements

  • Minimum BSc degree in Geology
  • Experienced professional with a proven track record including at least 10 years of experience in wellsite operations.
  • Ability to work in normal shift (i.e. 24/7 from spud to TD at least 1 month).
  • High energy and enthusiasm for delivering outstanding performance, with a “can do” attitude.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as within a team of multidisciplinary professionals.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Confidence in giving an opinion.
  • Ability to evaluate complex information and make decisions at any hour, day or night.
  • Competence in IT, with the ability to use standard office programs and specialised software.
  • Ability to cope with working under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English.
