Job Description
A territory manager is responsible for overseeing the sales and marketing efforts of a specific geographic region or territory for a retail business. They are responsible for identifying new sales opportunities, developing and maintaining relationships with customers, and ensuring that sales goals are met within their assigned territory.<p><br></p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong><p><br></p><ul><li>Develop and implement a sales strategy for the assigned territory that aligns with the overall sales and marketing goals of the business.</li><li>Build and maintain relationships with key customers within the territory, including retailers, wholesalers, and distributors.</li><li>Identify and pursue new sales opportunities within the territory, including new customers, markets, and product lines.</li><li>Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the retail landscape within the territory, including competitor activity and market trends.</li><li>Manage the sales cycle from lead generation to customer acquisition, including proposal development, negotiations, and contract execution.</li><li>Meet or exceed sales goals for the assigned territory, and report regularly on progress towards these goals.</li><li>Collaborate with other departments, including marketing, operations, and customer service, to ensure a coordinated approach to sales and customer support within the territory.</li><li>Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the company’s products and services, and effectively communicate this information to customers within the territory.</li><li>Attend trade shows, conferences, and other industry events to promote the company and develop new business opportunities.</li><li>Manage the budget for the assigned territory, ensuring that expenses are within budget and that revenue targets are met.</li></ul><p><br></p><strong>Requirements:</strong><p><br></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in business administration, sales, marketing, or a related field. A Master’s degree may be preferred.</li><li>At least 8 years of experience in sales or business development, with a proven track record of success in a retail environment.</li><li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with customers at all levels.</li><li>Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.</li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to make informed business decisions.</li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong sense of initiative and ownership.</li><li>Knowledge of retail industry trends and best practices.</li><li>Proficient in Microsoft Office and other business software.</li><li>Ability to travel regularly within the assigned territory, as well as to other locations for training, meetings, and events.</li></ul>
