<strong>Position: </strong> <strong> Sustainability Program Implementation Manager </strong><p><br></p><strong> Reports to </strong> : Director Sustainability<p><br></p><strong> Sector: </strong> Sustainability<p><br></p><strong> Job Location: </strong> Environment<p><br></p><strong> The Role Purpose: </strong><p><br></p>Within the NEOM Environment sector, the Environment (Interim) Authority (EIA) and the Environment Department (NEV) work closely together.<p><br></p>The Sustainability Division within the NEOM Environment Department is searching for a dynamic and innovative sustainability professional to join the NEOM Sustainability Team. This is an exciting and unique opportunity for an experienced career professional with highly developed technical knowledge and project management skills. The NEOM giga-project aims to be the most environmentally conscious and sustainable development project on the planet.<p><br></p>The purpose of this role is to critical provide leadership and guidance to ensure that the permanent and temporary built infrastructure of NEOM meets the required levels of sustainability performance set out in the approved Environment Strategy.<p><br></p><strong> Key Accountabilities & Activities: </strong><p><br></p>The Sustainability Program Implementation Manager (Planning Design & Development) supports the Sustainability Director with implementing NEOM Environment Strategy and is accountable for ensuring all applicable aspects are included in the planning, design and implementation of NEOM Built Environment projects<strong>. </strong>The overall goal is to “shift the dial” on sustainability at NEOM across 3 areas:<p><br></p><strong> People and Culture </strong><p><br></p><ul><li> Lead, manage and retain sustainability staff and sub-consultants engaged in the preparation of sustainability guidelines, standards, documentation, and project deliverables to support implementation of the NEOM Environmental Strategy and all initiatives related to Built Environment Design and delivery. </li><li> Manage NEOM Environment staff and teams, as required to develop and support the implementation of the NEOM Environment Strategy during procurement, design, construction and operations in relation to permanent and temporary infrastructure. </li><li> Identify and proactively engage with key internal and external stakeholders across NEOM as required to achieve delivery of all related areas of NEOM Environmental Strategy: Circularity, Climate Action and Sustainability </li></ul><p><br></p><strong> Leadership and Advocacy </strong><p><br></p><ul><li> Engages primarily with the Sustainability Division and Proponents to ensure appropriate, rigorous and timely sustainability assessment and certification of NEOM development projects </li><li> Responsible for proactively engaging with planning and design teams on all built environment developments related environmental and sustainability issues </li><li> Guides master planners, designers and sustainability specialists in the sustainability compliance of the NEOM regional built environment designs </li></ul><p><br></p><strong> Sustainability Implementation </strong><p><br></p><ul><li> Leads the sourcing, coordinating and managing sustainability sub-consultants engaged in the preparation of sustainability guidelines, standards, assessment studies and documentation to be submitted to NEOM Environmental Department. </li><li> Manages the development and implementation of a bespoke sustainability management system (sustainability assessment scheme) for the masterplan considering all aspects of the built environment (design, construction and operation). The NEOM EPS will have specific NEOM sustainability targets, to monitor that objectives are achieved in a timely and cost-effective manner (NEOM EPS including sustainability performance indicators/ KPIs, monitoring system and reporting). </li><li> Manages the compliance review of the Sustainable masterplan or Building documentation (via NEOM EPS tracking tool) </li><li> Conducts the effective, high quality and timely assessment of the NEOM master planning design and construction activities and supports with the development of associated approval methodologies, guidelines and procedures to meet NEOM Environmental policy and sustainable planning objectives. </li><li> Monitors continued alignment of NEOM projects with the NEOM sustainability urban planning and building requirements as well as IFC performance standards and world’s best practice. </li><li> Monitors that sustainability issues are effectively implemented during the master planning, building design and construction process. </li><li> Monitors that Compliance Audits of contractor activities are conducted and audit records and reports for NEOM Environment Department are compiled, as appropriate. </li><li> Supports with the implementation of sustainability initiatives and educational programs </li><li> Responsible for coordinating the specialist team, which is required to develop and support with the implementation of the NEOM Environment Strategy during design, construction and operation. </li><li> Responsible for proactively engaging with planning teams on all built environment related environmental and sustainability issues. </li><li> Guides master planners, building designers and sustainability specialists in the sustainability compliance of the NEOM masterplans and building designs. </li><li> Provides technical support and guidance related to sustainability within NEOM and to external stakeholders where interface is required (e.g. developers/ consultants/ suppliers). </li><li> Build and manage a highly efficient and professional team. </li><li> Help instill and maintain a high-performance culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. </li><li> Manage and provide technical input to employees or projects, where necessary. </li><li> Provide leadership to advance programs, practices, and performance. </li></ul><p><br></p>Set employee performance objectives, provide necessary support, appraise staff and provide regular feedback on performance.<p><br></p>Knowledge<p><br></p><ul><li> Good understanding of Built Environment Sustainability Certification and rating systems such as LEED WELL BREEAM MOSTADAM, ENVISION, SITES, PEER and/or CEEQUAL or equivalent </li></ul><p><br></p><strong>Skills</strong><p><br></p><ul><li> Strong technical sustainability skills across masterplan, infrastructure and building designs. </li><li> Strong written and verbal communication & report writing skills </li><li> Strong leadership, interpersonal/ people management and mentoring skills </li></ul><p><br></p><strong>Experience</strong><p><br></p><ul><li> Fifteen (15) or more years’ experience across the fields of sustainable planning </li><li> Professional qualification and work experience with development, and/or implementation of ‘Sustainability Rating Systems’. </li><li> Proven record of successfully leading a sustainability program, policies and regulatory frameworks or processes. </li></ul><p><br></p>Education<p><br></p><ul><li> A Master’s degree in Sustainability or Environmental Planning or Engineering in the built Environment </li></ul><p><br></p>Certifications<p><br></p><ul><li> Other qualifications in sustainability related to planning, design and/or engineering such National Green Infrastructure Certification Program or equivalent </li><li> Professional qualifications and work experience with development and/or implementation of ‘Sustainability Rating Systems’ such as ENVISION</li></ul>
