Job summary:
- Establishing a robust sustainability function in APC.
- Developing and implementing strategies to improve sustainability performance, focusing on areas such as net-zero emissions, green transformation, and resource efficiency.
- Enhancing the company’s capacity and knowledge in sustainable practices.
- Ensuring compliance with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) standards and managing sustainability reporting requirements.
- Penetrate the Carbon Markets, and the Sustainability financing and grants.
- Establishing Functional Activities and Operational model for the function.
- Set SOPs for the sustainability Directors.
- Work closely with Related APC Directors (Energy, Environment, Trucking, etc.) to set & implement.
Executive and Technical duties:
The selected sustainability consultant will be responsible “not only but including” the following tasks:
- Conducting a comprehensive assessment of the company’s current sustainability practices, identifying strengths and weaknesses.
- Collaborating with key stakeholders Internal and External to develop a sustainability roadmap, including specific goals, targets, and action plans.
- Designing and implementing a net-zero plan, outlining strategies and measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
- Formulating a green transformation plan to integrate sustainable practices across various aspects of the mining operations.
- Providing guidance and support in building internal capacity through training programs, workshops, and knowledge sharing.
- Managing ESG ratings and certifications, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and frameworks.
- Overseeing the development of sustainability reports, including data collection, analysis, and communication of results.
- Monitoring and evaluating the progress of sustainability initiatives, recommending adjustments as necessary.
- Assess the impact of APC’s projects from sustainability perspective.
- Assess APC opportunity in Carbon Markets and establish a position in it.
- Overseeing the opportunities for Green Grants, Green loans and investing in Green Bonds.
- Participate in Energy Audit activities.
- Assess and follow up with the current solar projects and studies and carry out new studies if needed.
- Assess and follow up with the current water projects and studies and carry out new studies if needed.
- Review and update the Procurement policies and procedures to be compatible with the recent sustainable practices.
Skills
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, sustainability, business management or any related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in sustainability management, preferably in the mining industries.
- Master’s degree is Preferable.
- In-depth knowledge of sustainablity practices, environmental regulations, sustainability frameworks, and industry best practices.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing sustainability strategies, including net-zero plans and green transformation initiatives.
- Expertise in conducting ESG assessments and managing sustainability reporting requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify innovative solutions for sustainability challenges.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
