<p>We are looking to hire a highly-skilled sushi chef to prepare sushi dishes for our new upscale concept in Amman Jordan. </p><p> </p><p><strong><u>Reports to:</u></strong> Executive Chef </p><p><strong><u>Duties & Responsibilities</u></strong></p><p>1. Sushi Preparation: Sushi chefs are responsible for preparing and handling different types of sushi, including nigiri, sashimi, maki, and other specialty rolls. This involves selecting the freshest fish and seafood, slicing it into precise portions, and arranging it on rice or other ingredients.</p><p>2. Knife Skills: Sushi chefs must possess exceptional knife skills to ensure precise and consistent cuts. They should be able to handle knives safely and efficiently, maintaining sharpness and precision to create visually appealing and well-proportioned sushi pieces.</p><p>3. Ingredient Selection and Quality Control: Sushi chefs have a deep understanding of various fish, seafood, vegetables, and other ingredients used in sushi preparation. They should be able to source and select the highest quality ingredients, ensuring freshness, taste, and adherence to food safety standards.</p><p>4. Sushi Menu Development: Depending on the establishment, sushi chefs may be involved in creating and developing new sushi recipes and menu items. This requires creativity, knowledge of flavor combinations, and an understanding of customer preferences.</p><p>5. Food Safety and Hygiene: Sushi chefs must strictly adhere to food safety and hygiene practices to ensure the safety and well-being of customers. This includes proper handling, storage, and sanitation of ingredients, equipment, and work areas.</p><p>6. Traditional Techniques and Presentation: Sushi chefs are expected to have a strong foundation in traditional sushi-making techniques. They should be proficient in shaping sushi rice, rolling sushi, and applying various garnishes and toppings. Attention to detail is crucial in creating visually appealing and aesthetically pleasing sushi presentations.</p><p>7. Customer Service: Sushi chefs often work in open kitchens or at sushi bars where they interact directly with customers. They should possess good communication skills, be able to provide recommendations, answer questions, and engage with customers to create a positive dining experience.</p><p>8. Teamwork and Time Management: In a fast-paced restaurant environment, sushi chefs must work well within a team and effectively manage their time to meet customer demands. They should be able to multitask, handle multiple orders simultaneously, and ensure that sushi is served promptly.</p><p>9. Continuous Learning: Sushi chefs are expected to stay updated with new trends, techniques, and ingredients in the sushi industry. They may attend workshops, seminars, or culinary events to enhance their skills and knowledge.</p><p>10. It is important to note that specific job requirements and responsibilities may vary depending on the restaurant or establishment.</p><p>11. Sushi Chef may have additional responsibilities, such as managing inventory, training junior staff, or assisting with administrative tasks.</p><p>12. Following safety and hygiene guidelines.</p><p>13. Preparing all the needed & necessary reports for the management. </p><p>14. Follow the rolls, instructions & regulations of the company or Restaurant.</p><p>15. Follow the instructions and directions given by the Executive Chef or the Company CEO.</p><p>16. Any other tasks/duties as may be required by the company. </p><p><strong><u>Requirements</u></strong></p><p>1. Work experience as a Sushi Chef not less than 7 yearsβ experience. </p><p>2. Good knowledge of various sushi types and sushi-rolling techniques.</p><p>3. Ability to work both fast and accurately.</p><p>4. Team spirit skills.</p><p>5. Availability to work during business hours, including weekends and evenings.</p><p>6. Flexibility to take on various shifts.</p><p>7. Certification from a culinary school is a plus.</p><p>8. Must be based in Amman Jordan.</p>
