<p>RSS is looking for a Solar Engineer who will will provide consistent, high-quality, cost-effective, and timely deliverables and products for the development of solar energy facilities. He/she will oversee, guide, and manage the work internally as well as the work of third-party consultants to support the growing pipeline for RSS’s solar prospects. Also promote environmental stewardship and a health and safety-focused culture. </p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for solar engineering activities </li><li>Act as an SME regarding technology selection (Modules/Inverter/Racking) and the impact of such technologies on project economics</li><li>Work with the hybrid proposals team to ensure accurate solar CAPEX estimates</li><li>Ensure the production of quality solar engineering designs, studies, and specifications while ensuring compliance with department, project, company, utility, regional electrical entity, and industry requirements and standards</li><li>Participate in engineering design and construction review processes as needed</li><li>Initiate, lead and conduct value-added engineering studies of alternative design approaches with internal and external resources as needed</li><li>Maintain active involvement in all phases of work related to solar designs, engineering such as cable sizing optimization, LV panel design, control panel design and changes to designs if required due to prevailing site conditions</li><li>Collaborate with Operations and Asset Management staff to ensure that designs capture operational experience and needs</li><li>Ensures that lessons learned, cross-platform design standards, and best practices are incorporated into pre-construction project designs</li><li>Serve as an interface between the Engineering group and internal clients including, Operations, Estimating, Health &amp; Safety and Procurement to facilitate inter-departmental relations</li><li>Analyze and evaluate new and emerging technologies as part of solar projects and hybrid system design efforts as the market evolves</li><li>Coordinate internal solar engineering and technical team with leading initiatives to completion to further strengthen RSS’s position both internally and externally</li><li>Interact closely with internal teams to ensure that project needs and objectives are met</li><li>Communicate regular and frequent project status updates and other reporting documents</li><li>Communicate information continuously and effectively to cross-functional teams</li><li>Assist in technical vendor reviews and qualifications</li><li>Provide technical support to Procurement for the preparation and execution of solar related RFPs for vendors and contractors</li><li>Track budgeted project costs with actual site costs and ensure actual project costs are within a reasonable margin of error.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Minimum Qualifications and Experience</strong>:</p><p><br></p><ul><li> Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering OR Master’s in Engineering preferred</li><li>6 – 8 years of direct design engineering experience with C &amp; I and utility scale solar PV systems</li><li>Relevant work experience in the design and development of utility scale solar PV systems and preferably hybrid energy facilities</li><li>Experience in AutoCAD, PVSyst, PVCase, SketchUp, and or other software platforms</li><li>Working knowledge of Python language preferred</li><li>Knowledge of Wind load and structural calculation for Solar System </li><li>Knowledge of Local utility and municipality regulation for Solar system (UAE and KSA)</li><li>Proficient knowledge of the full suite of Microsoft Office software; high proficiency in Excel required</li><li>Demonstrates knowledge with solar PV system capacity testing using PVsyst</li><li>Demonstrates knowledge of solar PV system commissioning procedures</li><li>Know-how of solar markets such as connections with third-party vendors, EPC’s and Independent Engineering (IE’s) preferred</li><li>Strong knowledge of solar PV modules, trackers, and inverters required </li><li>Strong knowledge of Electrical Equipment’s like Breakers, Relay, transformers etc</li></ul>
