Overview & Responsibilities

The purpose of this position is to provide proactive leadership and management to a maintenance workshop operations. Such Leadership extended to all aspects of the service shop operations including but not limited to the following:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Promote a positive attitude for a safe and healthy work environment, as well as awareness of high quality services
  • Lead all hourly and salary shop personnel, maintaining timely delivery of high quality end products
  • Lead in development of departmental budgets and once developed, maintain control and initiate corrective action as required.
  • Initiate methods to monitor and control operational costs for repair projects to ensure a steady profit margins.
  • Lead innovated repair technologies to support the compressor and Single-stage / Multi-Stages steam turbine product lines,  
  • Lead and Improve interface between external and internal suppliers and customers
  • Responsible for providing cost model input for quoting purposes.
  • Provide guidance, direction, and support Sales on individual quotations, and seeks to develop market driven customizable solutions.
  • Accountable for the hiring or discharging of personnel.
  • Lead disciplinary procedures with salary and hourly personnel.
  • Leads department annual salary plan for approval and administers approved plan.
  • Prepares and administers annual employee performance appraisals.
  • Responsible for preparing and implementing employee training programs.

To accomplish such objectives, it is necessary to plan and control long-term and daily shop operations. This position must develop, organize, plan and administer concepts that challenge the traditional way of conducting business. The incumbent will provide the leadership, direction, and guidance to create a more participative and team oriented approach to continuous change and improvement in the specific area of responsibility

Additional Responsibilities:

  • This position is responsible for directing, coordinating and controlling all activities of a multi-functional machining, welding, and assembly operations. Inclusive of ownership for the service centers work-in-progress.
  • Additional responsibilities include staffing decisions, development and implementation of safety programs, process improvement programs, training programs, salary administration, collect and analyze cost data for quoting cost models, design and implement master schedule capacity plans for critical path components
  • The incumbent must have the flexibility to perform wide range of activities, including directing management and hourly personnel, developing and implementing state-of-the-art repair technologies, develop and implement joint union/management related projects.
  • The position also requires monitoring of work process to seek improvements, enhancing safety, quality, productivity and delivery while maintaining collaborative environment.
  • At times the incumbent will serve in an advisory capacity to Human Resources on contract related issues and develops an effective/efficient organizational structure.

External & Internal Interface:

  • This position is required to interact with all levels of personnel and departments within the Elliott company, i.e. engineering, technical services, service, service parts, sales, service sales, other shop managers, zone and regional managers, service shop employees, credit and accounting
  • Routine contact with vendor /subcontractors and competitors is expected
  • Routine customer contact is expected, including purchaser, engineering contractor, expediting and inspection
  • Representatives.  Required to participate in major client meetings and negotiations.
  • Travel requirements are minimal.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Engineering, Bachelor of Science Engineering Technology, or equivalent degree.

Work Experience Requirements:

  • Five (5) to Ten (10) years’ experience associated with turbomachinery and repair procedures.
  • Strong technical background required, including familiarity with machining, welding, balancing, unit assembly, reverse engineering as repair methods.
  • Managerial and supervisory experience.
  • Strong communications skills, both verbal and written, including conflict resolution, and ability to comprehend and present detailed technical solutions internally and externally.
  • Has good organizational skills, can think creatively, and independently.
  • Should possess an understanding of financial procedures, analytical analysis capability and problem solving techniques.
  • Possesses basic knowledge of accounting principles, budgetary requirements, and cost controls.
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office, MS Project).

Dammam, Saudi Arabia

Work Schedule:

Full Time, 5 days / week on-site day shift.
