We are currently looking for a qualified Senior Transport Modeller with 10+  years experience to join the Regional Transport Planning Team and to be based in Dubai.

Requirements

The Transport Modeller will have a qualified professional degree with a minimum of 10 years experience ideally also hold a Master’s qualification in the related field. With a strong working knowledge of Transport Modelling and Traffic Engineering Software with experience in use of strategic transport models built in software platforms such as  PTV Vision (VISUM), Citilabs (Cube Voyager), EMME etc. Experience in development of Activity Based Transport Models will be an asset.

  • Ideally MSc and or chartered status

This role requires  managing  variety of transport planning & modelling studies – large scale strategic transport plans & traffic management plan assessments for multi-disciplinary planning projects. Working closely with the Regional Transport Planning Team Members to ensure timely completion of the necessary analysis, reports and plans as assigned.

Essential

  • Must have a minimum of degree in planning or transportation and over ten years related professional work experience, post university graduation

  • Understanding of the state-of-the art transport model development, modelling principles and best practices, transportation planning, development/access planning public transport issues, transit-oriented development, transport demand theory, parking policies, planning regulations, and other urban planning policies and approaches.

  • Capable of presentation of transport modelling and  planning projects (through all phases) and interpretation of studies to a skilled audience

  • Practical understanding of the role and importance of transport modelling and planning in development access, citywide mobility and assisting people’s needs.

  • Good client interface skills is essential

  • Experience in providing the appropriate junction analysis to assist traffic impact assessments

  • Contribute to preparation of transport model User manuals, technical notes and reports.

  • Contribute to preparation of transport planning reports including existing conditions analyses, trip generation, junction analysis, parking assessment for projects undertaken by the department

  • Project  management experience in the Middle East and familiarity with local trends and transport modelling and planning practices and standards

  • Competence with programming software such as VB, Python etc.

  • Must be able to communicate in English effectively, both written and spoken

  • Must be able to learn and retain new skills quickly from a variety of sources

  • Must be able to work with limited supervision

  • Experience project  management

  • Must be familiar with working to Quality Assured Systems

Desirable

  • Capable of communicating in Arabic effectively, both written and spoken

  • Contribute to the concept and final design and development of land use plans for projects ranging from relatively small plot plans to large masterplans

  • Working knowledge of using other modelling /microsimulation software  such as VISUM, VISSIM,

  • aaSIDRA,SYNCHRO, HCM

  • Competency with EXCEL and GIS software
