This is a mid-level role shaping and leading the Bank’s digital delivery agenda; and is responsible for development and maintenance of the assigned suite of applications required to help us achieve our Default Digital goals.
Job Purpose
As a Senior System Analyst, Database Services, you will administer a large, complex production DB environment. The role performs highly effective centralized database administration for multiple databases, troubleshoot and provide system level support/ guidance/ solutions to ensure a 24X7 operations of applications.
Senior System Analyst, Database Services will administer and control the organization’s data resources using Relational Database Management Systems and/or other DBMS tools
The role holder has end to end responsibility for an area that is strategic in nature and needs specialist business and IT knowledge and experience to influence and drive decision making.
Accountabilities
Ensure service stability, uptime of the systems under the portfolio as per the agreed SLA.
Provides database administration to SQL, Oracle, MySQL, Sybase, MongoDB Server databases running on Microsoft Windows / Linux / Server
Installs, configures, and maintains SQL Server database application with required patches and updates and manages database security and user permissions and privileges in accordance with application/database requirements
Develops and/or maintains database objects (tables, views, indexes) and monitors and optimizes database performance and tuning
Manages and ensures compliance with database backup strategies and provides customer support to database and associated application development team, owners, and user stakeholders
Maintains Database Lifecycle Management processes detailed by FAA specifications and provides impact information on proposed changes to application and its database structure
Provides schedule and resource requirements to stakeholders concerning proposed changes to the application and associated database
Provides sizing recommendations for any new databases or changes to existing databases, including user/data growth projection and the impact on the server memory and performance characteristics
Works with other database administrators to ensure optimal efficiency and optimization of databases, server clusters, back-up strategies, and database services to FAA and its customers
Provide L2 & L3 support in the respective support area and act on technical escalations and provides guidance and technical insights to the team for continuous improvements
Proactively manage and maintain security standards and controls and implements and maintains database security and encryption
Actively seek to optimize and simplify DB architecture and take ownership of performance and capacity monitoring aspects of the DB
Execute data migration jobs and scripts as required and assist the infrastructure team in sizing hardware used for the DB
Contribute to the creation and maintenance of disaster recovery plans
Create a reliable backup strategy, oversees backup, clustering, mirroring, replication, and failover
Determine and document DB policies, procedures and standards
Performance testing and evaluation to ensure data security, privacy and integrity. Identification of bottle necks and deadlock issues
Ensure SLA’s & operational KPI’s are met, working as necessary with internal and external support functions when major incidents occur
Perform maintenance operations daily, weekly and monthly on Oracle and SQL servers and databases, and information systems for the purpose of ensuring efficient program operations
Perform database backups and restorations and recovers corrupted databases and evaluate and recommend new database technologies
Develop, manage, and test database and information system backup and recovery plans and prepare written materials for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information
Prepare and distribute reports, including but not limited to weekly and monthly status reports to management
Interface with Oracle, Microsoft, Sybase for technical support including patch management and version control
