Job Description

JOB PURPOSE :

Plan and execute front end development and certification for new energies (low carbon Hydrogen) studies in relation to ADNOC Value assurance process. (VAP) (mainly Identify/ select phase) and lead the development of up-to-date project execution guidelines for feasibility assessment economic evaluation for the new energies studies, carbon capture and low carbon certification requirements part as needed, to support the maximization of value and profitability of ADNOC’s resources and low carbon directorate objectives in the international growth of new energies business.

Monitor NE and LC Hydrogen Front end development studies and certification studies execution schedules and practices and review over all reports in order to ensure the implementation of ADNOC guidelines, best practice, and lessons learned across the gas companies while supporting them in timely completion, achievement of projects objectives and adherence to approved budgets.

Advice on all procedural issues pertaining to Group Companies’ Hydrogen Business strategies and practices on projects while advice endorsing technical decision support packages at all project gate stages taking into account the maximizing the value of the gas resources and the profitability generated of the project.

Review, recommend and endorse all Tender Acquisitions & Agreement Amendments (Scope/Cost/Schedule); Review, negotiate and challenge project budget estimation & phasing in the 5 years business plan.

Advice on the best practice applied for the low carbon hydrogen production assets, to ensure best in class performance through applicable key performance indicators and 100% HSE concept.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

NE and LC Hydrogen front end development and certification
– Execute front end development and certification technical studies pertaining to ADNOC’s NE and LC Hydrogen Business initiatives towards development and delivery of cleaner energy alternatives and solutions (low carbon Hydrogen).
– Conduct feasibility studies for potential future Hydrogen gas processing projects. Highlight to management the problematic areas and concerns at early stage in the projects and provide technical solutions to mitigate them.
– Analyse innovative ideas to develop the strategic growth and value-enhancing options set for the Hydrogen business & Hydrogen value chain
– Explore all mutual areas of interest and develop good working relationship with potential business partners, which may lead to new joint venture development.
– Support the development of NE and LC Hydrogen project Decision Support Package engineering studies at relevant stages of the project life cycle in line with ADNOC Group VAP with focus on engineering feasibility, economic evaluation, cleaner energy (hydrogen), carbon capture and storage
– The technical expertise shall encompass the following;
– Clean energy products which includes the likes of blue/green hydrogen, ammonia, syngas, methanol, SAF, e-LNG, carbon capture.
– Clean energy production technology, transportation methods and end use covering the total value chain
– In-depth understanding of different clean energy carrier options i.e., ammonia, LOHC, LH2, Methanol
– Lead the required technical coordination with all related stakeholders as international certification bodies, sustainability teams, ADNOC technology team, / Shareholders/ Khalifa University/ External Parties in developing leading edge NE and LC Hydrogen business innovations, providing strategic insight and prioritisation, driving the related technologies road maps to reach operational and commercial proof of concept.
– Familiarity with the international development on LCA methodology and regulations which would support life cycle assessment evaluation for the low carbon solution value chain
– Hands on experience with economic modelling in MS Excel which will have CAPEX, OPEX, discounted cash flow and provide key economic results (IRR, NPV, levelized cost of product, payback period). Good understanding of the key input parameters and its impact and sensitivities on the economic results.
– Hands on experience in preparing lucid technical and management presentation which will help to provide clarity to management on complex subjects.
– In-depth technical and commercial subject knowledge which would help to perform internal screening assessment of new opportunities, alternate options. The assessment shall identify the merit and demerit of the subject opportunities and provide recommendation to whether take it up to feasibility stage.
– Hands on experience in participating in key safety review workshop (HAZID, ENVID, OHID) and implementing close-out actions on the recommendations from the workshop.
– Hands on experience in preparing scope of work for the relevant project stage in line with mandates from ADNOC latest standards. Additionally, expertise to ensure that the project is executed meeting all the requirement as per the scope of work.
– Quality management and certification

Project Governance
– Executing the low carbon solutions front end and certification studies in line with ADNOC VAP guidelines and HSE Standards. Supporting the study team to deliver the studies meeting the scope, timeline and business objectives.
– If there is interface between low carbon solutions studies and group companies, coordinate with group companies to maximise synergies and add value for ADNOC

Projects Risk Management
– Review and assess of potential risks in project execution of all Hydrogen Gas projects in order to provide senior management with an informed view of the risks involved.
– Liaise with Group Companies’ to analyse and propose risk mitigation measures to enable the projects to proceed with an acceptable level of risk and as and when required to minimize such risks accordingly.

Supervision
– Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
– Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives.

Budgets
– Provide input for preparation of the department/ Division’s budgets and assist in the implementation of the approved Budget and work plans to deliver Division objectives.
– Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
– Implement approved Division policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the Division work programs in line with Company and International standards.

Performance Management
– Contribute to the achievement of the approved performance objectives for the Division in line with the Company Performance framework.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement
– Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
– Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.

Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability
– Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC AGES.

Reports
– Provide inputs to prepare project progress reports for Company Management.
