JOB PURPOSE :

The Low Carbon Solutions & International Growth directorate is a newly formed entity in ADNOC aimed at achieving the ADNOC mandate of maximum energy with minimum emissions. Within this directorate is the newly formed New Energies asset management division which is aimed at managing ADNOC’s investment in the renewable energy and green hydrogen space. Currently, ADNOC’s exposure and growth mandate in the space is being achieved via its investment in Masdar alongside TAQA and Mubadala.

The role of the Senior Specialist will be to assist VP of New Energies asset management in appraising the sustained flow of investment opportunities (greenfield and M&A, emerging markets, and OECD) which are subject to Masdar’s investment committee, board or shareholder decisions, monitor asset performance as well as formulating appropriate recommendations with the various internal stakeholders. The role will also include some level of business development mainly through screening incoming investment opportunities in the renewable and green hydrogen space worldwide routed via ADNOC to Masdar.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Investment Evaluation
– Lead the review of business cases to support internal investment appraisals and decision making, including the strategic rationale, value proposition for ADNOC, compliance with investment policies and the structuring and execution considerations.
– Coordinate with Group Strategic Investment and other teams (Legal, governance, strategy, etc.) in developing business cases and completing the required internal approvals.
– Support the preparation, review and challenging of relevant assumptions presented by Masdar prior to Investment Committee and board submissions, to facilitate effective investment decision making.
– Identify and keep track of industry trends portfolio lessons learnt, and generally maintain a relevant knowledge base and improve the future quality of appraisal of investment opportunities.

Investment Monitoring
– Assist the VP in conducting the required annual Masdar budget exercise and monitoring deviations
– Develop and track a set of KPIs, to monitor corporate and portfolio performance in line with the investment policy and agreed budgets
– Ensure post deal legal and commercial obligations are tracked and timely fulfilled, in accordance with the approvals on place
