<strong><u>Overview</u></strong><p><br></p><strong>Background:</strong><p><br></p>The USAID Makanati Women Economic Empowerment and leadership Activity will use a Champions of Change approach to work with private sector firms, the government, community-based organizations (CBOs), and other high-level stakeholders to create an enabling environment for women to undertake waged employment in the private sector in Jordan. To that end, Makanati will work with partners and stakeholders to encourage women to consider career choices in high-growth, priority sectors and promote the recruitment, retention, and advancement of women in Jordan’s labor force. Using a targeted sector and regional focus, Makanati will seek to increase women’s access to the job market and demand-driven job skills and leadership training that responds to market needs. Makanati will also identify and address policy gaps, workplace inequalities and prohibitive social norms and traditions to support an equitable and inclusive workforce enabling environment.<p><br></p>Makanati’s goal is to establish pathways through which social change and economic opportunities lead to a systemic shift from women’s exclusion to inclusion in market systems and increase women’s economic participation in the private sector. This holistic approach will bridge the gap between women’s and men’s inclusion in the workforce and, overall, will contribute to inclusive economic growth in Jordan. Makanati is implemented by EnCompass LLC in partnership with Nathan <strong>, a Cadmus Company</strong> , Integrated International and JoWomenomics.<p><br></p>This position will be under Nathan <strong>,</strong> a Cadmus Company. Nathan focuses on a range of economic development subject matter areas including Trade &amp; Logistics; Economic Policy &amp; Governance; Private Sector Development; Women’s Economic Empowerment; and Financial Solutions.<p><br></p><strong><u>Responsibilities</u></strong><p><br></p><strong>Position Summary:</strong><p><br></p>The Senior Private Sector Specialist will play a key role in supporting the Senior Private Sector Lead and advancing Makanati’s objectives. This position will be responsible for implementing private sector engagement strategies, with a specific focus on improving women’s access to jobs and leadership roles in the private sector. The specialist will concentrate on Makanati’s targeted sectors, including tourism, media/creative industries, manufacturing and transport/logistics, with digital and environmental considerations as cross-cutting themes.<p><br></p><strong><u>Key Responsibilities</u></strong><p><br></p><ul><li>Establish and maintain relationships with private sector stakeholders such as business associations, chambers of commerce and industry, and unions to strengthen coordination and support for women’s roles within the Makanati’s targeted sectors</li><li>Advocate for improved perceptions, practices, and advocacy for women in the sector, promoting gender equality and inclusivity</li><li>Work closely with the Senior Private Sector Led to coordinate and facilitate the exchange of experiences, best practices, and business promotion mechanisms among private sector partners. The focus will be on achieving sustained market system change within businesses within targeted sectors</li><li>Identify the challenges and possibilities for women seeking to enter, remain, and advance in careers in Makanati’s targeted sectors (industrial, logistics, transportation, tourism, creative industries) and others (including informal and non-traditional types of work with potential for women’s engagement)</li><li>Identify trends as well as market-based interventions and incentives to better integrate adult and young women into targeted sectors and others in a way that provides equitable benefits and practices</li><li>Develop mechanisms and incentives that drive private sector engagement and job creation, using a market systems approach</li><li>Contribute to the development of a private sector engagement strategy and the implementation of recommended interventions to address barriers to women’s employment in Makanati’s targeted sectors, as well as to make the business case to the private sector for the importance of employing and advancing women employees</li><li>Develop and maintain partnerships with universities and educational and training service providers to support the Pathway to Leadership program, in collaboration with identified champion firms to support the recruitment and retention of women in employment and leadership within the targeted sectors to support their growth and competitiveness as employees</li><li>Support the Monitoring and Evaluation team in performing periodic rapid assessments to inform the design of specific sector interventions and track progress towards Activity indicators</li><li>Coordinate with international organizations to incorporate workplace standards for gender equality and social inclusion in tourism into private sector firms’ policies and procedures</li><li>Support Champion firms in the sector to seek certification based on criteria that promote best practices and measurable impact in women’s empowerment and gender mainstreaming</li><li>Coordinate cross-cutting activities with the Makanati team, including collaboration with the Communications Specialist, Senior Gender and Youth Specialist, Senior Community Lead, Senior Government Lead, and MEL Specialist, to ensure that private sector activities effectively contribute to the overall Makanati objective(s) in agender-sensitive manner</li><li>Manage service providers and external consultants</li><li>Draft scopes of work, requests for proposals, and requests for applications</li><li>Draft reporting inputs on a range of activities</li></ul><p><br></p><strong><u>Qualifications</u></strong><p><br></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; Master’s degree preferred</li><li>Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in private sector engagement, gender equality, and women’s empowerment</li><li>Strong experience in and knowledge of the private sector dynamic and how to tailor interventions toward the private sector, including associations, and deep familiarity with the identified sectors</li><li>Experience in industrial and logistic sector is desirable</li><li>Track record of identifying potential partners and building long-lasting relationships and partnerships that deliver results</li><li>Proven ability to think strategically, advocate, and provide recommendations on workforce development</li><li>Demonstrated project management skills, including ability to implement an activity from conceptualization to implementation and evaluation</li><li>Solid understanding of how Jordanian employers view gender equality and diversity and inclusion issues</li><li>Experience with USAID and other donor-funded</li><li>StrongEnglish and Arabic language</li><li>Mustbe based in Jordan</li></ul><p><br></p><strong><u>Additional Information</u></strong><p><br></p><strong>For employees working outside of the United States, compensation and benefits will vary based on the project and the location.</strong><p><br></p>We value the critical role safety and health protocols contribute to everyone’s success at Cadmus, and work together to align and comply with all federal, state, and local safety and health mandates related to COVID to ensure a safe and valuable work environment.<p><br></p>Candidates who will be required to travel to specific countries must be willing to meet allof the requirements of the destination country(ies) for unimpeded entry.<p><br></p>Learn more about Cadmus by visiting our website at: http://www.cadmusgroup.com<p><br></p><strong>Job Locations</strong> <strong>JO-Amman</strong><p><br></p><strong>Posted Date</strong> <strong>2 weeks ago</strong> <strong>(7/11/2023 1:51 PM)</strong><p><br></p><strong><strong>Job ID</strong></strong> <strong>2023-2501</strong><p><br></p><strong><strong># of Openings</strong></strong> <strong>1</strong><p><br></p><strong><strong>Category</strong></strong> <strong>Associate</strong>
