For more information, visit www.ifc.org.<br><br>IFC has embarked on an ambitious new growth strategy, the outcome of which will be to double our volume of business by 2030 and triple the work we do in Low-Income Countries (LICs) and Fragile and Conflict-affected States (FCS). To do so, IFC will need to deploy its full range of financing, mobilization, advisory, convening, and thought leadership skills. This also calls for the need to generate our own opportunities by proactively working “Upstream” to create, deepen, and expand markets and opportunities for the private sector and to imagine, design, and implement investment projects. This strategy also relies on a closer WBG collaboration through the “Cascade” approach: working with clients, we will first seek private sector solutions to address development challenges—where such solutions are advisable and can be effective—and reserve public financing for projects only when other options are suboptimal.<br><br><strong>Roles &amp; Responsibility:<br><br></strong>The Senior investment officer will work closely with the Global Head of Business Development and Client Coverage and industry teams to build and maintain strong relationships with select FIG, INR, MAS, and CDF global clients to develop specific investment opportunities. S/he will coordinate the development of engagement plans for global clients together with industries, credit, ESG, and other relevant groups, detailing IFC’s coverage approach, including the level of involvement of the IFC MD and senior management; Work with clients to promote innovation and provide integrated services and work internally to ensure quality control; Stay abreast of the latest market and industry trends and generate co-investment opportunities with DFIs. Specifically, with the support of Relationship Managers and Industry teams, he/she will:<br><ul><li> Contribute to the development of a client engagement strategy.</li><li> Support the Global Head in developing and managing relationships with key clients and other stakeholders.</li><li> Closely coordinate with the industry department to provide strategic advice to clients.</li><li> Closely work with clients to implement the client engagement strategy and follow-ups and stay attuned to client needs across products and industries.</li><li> Monitor and analyze market developments and provide strategic advice to the industry teams.</li><li> Closely monitor and analyze client activity and develop proactive client engagement plans.</li><li> Stay abreast of industry developments and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the competitive landscape.</li><li> Maintain close relationships with Industry Specialists to gather knowledge of the updating of technologies and applications. Be prepared to offer these as part of the client engagement.</li><li> Support the client mapping and screening.</li><li> Participate in client meetings and coordinate the preparation of presentations and follow-ups and minutes.</li><li> Develop and maintain a sound understanding of WBG’s and especially IFC’s products, services, and priorities.</li><li> Help build a dialogue with strategic clients and counterparts at other DFIs at both senior and technical levels.</li><li> Identify and seize business opportunities and new trends in client behavior.</li><li> Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration.</li><li> Guide junior staff and provide a path for staff development.<br><br></li></ul>Selection Criteria<br><ul><li> Must have obtained an MBA or Master’s degree in business, finance, or economics;</li><li> Must have at least 12 to 15 years of experience in business development, project finance and investment banking, with good knowledge, networks, and credibility within the business and governmental communities;</li><li> Good “deal sense” based on demonstrated strong analytical skills and sound business judgment;</li><li> Ability to develop innovative solutions and challenges the status quo in order to build the business;</li><li> Ability to work independently in a challenging environment;</li><li> Experience in dealing with government clients, investors, and multiple stakeholders;</li><li> Experience in successfully managing diverse project teams in multiple transactions;</li><li> Strong financial, analytical, and modeling skills; sound business judgment; ability to find creative solutions to accommodate different interests.
