<p><strong>About this role</strong></p><p><br></p><p>The Senior Digital Translator is a vital member of the Digital Experience department, reporting to the Head of Digital Content. Their primary responsibility is to translate, edit, and review Arabic content for QM’s public-facing digital channels. They ensure high-quality, culturally aligned copy that effectively connects with Arabic-speaking audiences, handling translations between English and Arabic. The role involves working with diverse source materials to create digital-friendly Arabic content that aligns with QM’s editorial standards, brand voice, and the needs of target audiences. The Senior Digital Translator collaborates with stakeholders and subject specialists, while closely supporting Digital Editors and Content Planners throughout the content production process to ensure top-notch multilingual digital content.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Duties & Responsibilities</strong></p><p><br></p><ul><li>Translation and Editing: Skillfully translate and edit existing source materials into the target language/s while maintaining the original meaning and ensuring cultural appropriateness.</li><li>Subtitles and Transcripts: Prepare accurate subtitles, captions, and transcripts for videos and online presentations in the target language/s to enhance accessibility and engagement.</li><li>Consistency and Alignment: Ensure all translated texts and terms across QM’s digital estate are consistent and align with our editorial and brand guidelines, maintaining a unified voice and message.</li><li>Proofreading: Conduct meticulous proofreading of translated texts to guarantee impeccable grammar, spelling, and punctuation for error-free and polished content.</li><li>Quality Check: Cross-reference translations using specialized dictionaries and translation tools to ensure the highest quality and accuracy in all output.</li><li>Audience Understanding: Comprehend the purpose of content and adapt translations to resonate effectively with different end-users, considering cultural nuances and preferences.</li><li>Collaboration and Follow-up: Collaborate with internal team members and stakeholders to ensure the translation meets both QM’s objectives and the specific needs of our diverse audience.</li><li>Arabic Style Guide: Play a pivotal role in updating and maintaining the department’s Arabic style guide, providing essential guidelines for consistent language usage and quality assurance.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Qualifications/Requirements</strong></p><p><br></p><p>Bachelor’s (BSc) and/or Masters degree in Translation, Interpreting or similar field. Additional certification in Linguistics is a plus.</p><p>Desirable: Creative writing or communication/journalism qualifications or equivalent work experience </p><ul><li>Fluency in Arabic and English</li><li>Knowledge and experience writing, editing and translating a range of materials for online and digital consumption in Arabic and English</li><li>A clear writing style with impeccable knowledge of spelling and grammar</li><li>Ability to work at speed and maintain meticulous attention to detail</li><li>Ability to meet deadlines without fail</li><li>The ability to grasp new concepts and subjects and/or technical terms quickly, confident when consulting with subject matter experts in order to ensure clarity for a non-specialist reader</li><li>Ability to develop contacts and to build relationships with clients and subject matter experts</li><li>Ability to upload content using a content management system</li><li>Working knowledge of cloud-based word processing and project management and collaboration software e.g. Slack, Microsoft Teams, Work, Excel, etc.</li></ul>
