Job Description

As a Safety Specialist you will advise and support to managers and engineers on HSE at all stages of a construction project.Job Duties:SH&E support to construction projects to ensure compliance with AECOM and legal requirements including, Safety in Design, SHE Plans, contactor management, RAMS, etc.Provide advice, support and training on compliance with relevant (legal and company) SH&E requirements at all stages of a project.Develop a culture where all individuals and teams provide positive input into SH&E management in their workplace. Assess, communicate and monitor SH&E performance and compliance.Report and investigate SHE incidents.Conduct incident investigations and reviews to ensure root causes are identified, and corrective actions are agreed and implemented to control risks and improve standards.Implement policies, procedures, documents and best practice to effectively and efficiently manage change in the business following introduction of new legislation, change in company risk profile.Provide and analyse SH&E incident data and information (including alerts and lessons learnt), using company systems (SHEQ Improvement Database, Industry Safe and Lifeguard to ensure continuous improvement and development of best practice.Develop and apply technical knowledge relevant to the specific SH&E risks associated with our activities.Provides technical support to safety studies, health assessment studies, and project risk assessments.Provides safety technical support and assistance to projects and coordinates safety requirements and formulation of risk reduction measures with project-assigned safety personnel, engineering, construction and onsite ES&H representatives during construction.Participates in meetings with customers, project team members, and contractors/subcontractors to advise them of safety requirements that may affect project design, schedule, and cost.Drafts comprehensive ES&H plans, project specific risk reduction plans, safety awareness training programs, and technical reports.Provides recommendations and input for revising safety procedures, work processes, and other quality improvement measures.Conducts safety inspections/assessments of project construction activities to monitor compliance with applicable safety and health requirements including contractual commitments, permits, and the project’s ES&H plan.When in supervisory role, implements personnel policies (e.g., conducts employee performance evaluations) and provides technical direction to staff. Under general supervision performs technical work in a wide range of environmental, health and safety disciplines to achieve compliance with ES&H standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements. Exhibits knowledge and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of their environmental specialty. Assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of safety and health programs, systems and procedures. Monitors and prevents hazards and diseases that could be found in the work area. Investigates accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Specific Skills Required:Specific Language requirements – EnglishRequirements for driving licenses – YesKnowledge of national and international safety laws/regulations and regulatory agencies’ processes and responsibilities, industry standards/practices for safety and health compliance, and best management practices for minimizing potential safety risks during project execution.Experience in safety inspections/assessments during construction.Knowledge of hazardous materials and physical risk exposures and Personal Protective Equipment standards as well as People Based Safety processes and procedures.
