Manage all revenue processes for the local markets, including proposal pipeline system support, sales orders and contracts, revenue recognition and accounting, and collections. Maintain compliance with Global COE standards. Ensure effective internal controls associated with revenue & collections processes are in place and continuously monitored.

Responsibilities (key activities and decisions for which role is responsible)

  • Partner with Client Service to support sales proposal and contract entry by Client Service, clarify USGAAP/Stat rules and contract interpretation, and provide training
  • Adopt a Global & Regional COE agenda and link in with the respective regional COE hub to ensure adequate management of and reporting on the following:
    • Customer invoicing, credit management, and customer credit verification
    • Accounts Receivable management including cash collection and allocation
    • Revenue recognition
  • Ensure revenue closing activities, including accruals, provisions and reconciliations, are appropriate and accurate and are performed in accordance with US-GAAP/Stat rules, Global COE processes, and together with the Operational Controller
  • Partner with local FP&A and Finance Business Partner to provide clarity on orders and contracts, revenue, billing and receivables and credit management
  • Provide Global/Regional COE with input for Revenue-related reporting
  • Responsible for the controls on revenue processes and ensuring adequate controllership is maintained at all times; take action on flagged control misses
  • Ensure regional statutory compliance related to revenue accounting; monitor and provide guidance on related statutory and tax accounting, reporting, and audit
  • Support with the Operational Controller during audits (CAS, statutory, VAT, etc) based on pre-defined way of work according to Global/Regional COE standards
  • Lead locally IT/Digital projects pertaining to revenue processes (i.e. SAP OTI , Salesforce, Google, etc.) for respective market(s)
  • Provide adequate supervision, coaching and mentoring to team and ensure high degree of energy and moral
  • Support Global & Regional COE Leaders on all other projects pertaining to the scope of the market
  • Work closely with the market and regional Operational controllership and FP&A team on Revenue, Cash Flow and Accruals beside other closing activities

What does Success mean for this role?

A successful Revenue Controller will ensure all basic key performance indicators pertaining to contract processing, revenue accounting, and accounts receivable are achieved for own accounts and will clearly demonstrate support for the implementation of productivity measures in such processes via IT projects, the COE hubs, or in other Global/Regional COE related projects.

Internal:

  • Work closely with peer group in the Revenue Controlling COE incl. the hub
  • Link in with FP&A and Consolidation teams on closing schedule, accounting services, and consolidated accounts, with specific focus for Revenue-related activities
  • Work with Group Controller on compliance and governance
  • Partner in with Client Service leadership and commercial teams
  • Partner with Operational Controller and team (closing cut-off dates, journals, supporting documentation, and local GAAP requirements)
  • Legal/Contracts Administration locally (if applicable)
  • Internal & External Audit

External:

  • Shared Service Centre (if outsourced)
  • External Audit or Consultants

Requirements

Education & Training (preferred or required degrees, academic and/or professional training, or certification)

  • Local or international Accounting qualification (CA, ACCA, ACMA, or other)
  • Degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Fluency in English and local language mandatory; third regional language preferred

Experience (preferred Or Required Technical, Functional And/or Leadership Experience)

  • Minimum 5 – 7 years relevant professional experience as finance manager/revenue controller in a medium to large international company
  • Experience working in multinational, multi-cultural environment
  • Experience in driving process related initiatives (Standardisation/ Control checks/ red flags etc)
  • Experience working with remote counterparts
  • Experience working in Finance & some legal contract exposure
  • Experience working on SAP/ Hyperion HFM
