<p><strong><em>About the role: </em></strong></p><p>We are seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist with a strong background in geology, geochemistry, and carbon sequestration to join our team in Muscat. You will be working in 44.01’s laboratories (Project Biruni) and will report to the project manager. This important role is responsible for leading research efforts in the field of carbon sequestration in peridotite rocks, with a focus on understanding the potential for these rocks to store large amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2) for extended periods of time. </p><p><br></p><p><strong><em>What you’ll do: </em></strong></p><ul><li>Run experiments and test research hypothesis in the lab for novel ideas </li><li>Prepare and design experimental studies to investigate the properties and behaviour of rock formations (i.e. peridotite) as a potential carbon storage medium </li><li>Develop and apply analytical methods for the measurement of CO2 storage capacity and behaviour in peridotite rocks </li><li>Validate and scale up novel ideas from various teams into pilot plants and industrial scale </li><li>Commercialize and provide robust proof of concept routes for early-stage technologies </li><li>Write scientific reports and file patent applications for important findings </li><li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including geologists, engineers, and managers, to advance our understanding of carbon sequestration in peridotite rocks </li><li>Stay up to date with the latest research developments in the field and identify opportunities for new research initiatives </li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong><em>Who you are: </em></strong></p><ul><li>Master’s degree in Geology, Geochemistry, or a related field with two years of research experience or a PhD in the previously mentioned areas from a respectful institution </li><li>Strong expertise in carbon sequestration and deep understanding of the behavior of CO2 in subsurface environments </li><li>Proven experience in field studies and laboratory experiments related to carbon sequestration </li><li>Excellent writing and communication skills, with a proven track record of publishing in peer- reviewed journals </li><li>Ability to work effectively in a team environment and lead cross-functional projects </li><li>Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously </li><li>Self-motivated, creative, and able to work independently </li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong><em>What’s in it for you… </em></strong></p><ul><li>An opportunity to make a difference and join a high-potential start-up </li><li>A chance to be at the forefront of the fight against climate change </li><li>A competitive salary and an opportunity to have a stake in the business </li><li>To be part of a team that will invest in your career growth</li></ul>
