Research in these sectors is enhanced by our research platforms of Robotics, AI and Data Science, Information and Communication Technologies, and Advanced Materials and Manufacturing as well as Fundamental Sciences.<br><br><br>Position Overview<br><br>Yahsat Space Lab (YSL) at KU is looking for motivated candidates to join our team for the exciting opportunity in the role of Spacecraft’s ADCS Research Engineer. The ADCS Research Engineer is responsible to ensure the performance requested for the ADCS system during the Spacecraft’s mission from development to flight operation.  The ADCS Research Engineer will also define requirements for ADCS subsystems working beside other subsystem technician and identify agility, and positioning budgets to meet the spacecraft’s mission geolocation and stability requirements.<br><br>The ADCS Research Engineer will conduct ADCS performance analysis, interface within the spacecraft, subsystem procurement, testing and in-orbit operation. It will be required as well to develop new ADCS algorithms necessary for the spacecrafts.<br><br>The ADCS Research Engineer will also supervise, together with the project team, graduate students to gain hands-on experience in developing satellites ADCS subsystems. The current lab team is composed of several systems engineers and experts working mainly on Satellites subsystems development.<br><br>Position Requirements<br>· Participate in the design of Yahsat Space Lab (YSL) CubeSat from ADCS point of view.<br>· Development from specification to qualification of a challenging ADCS subsystem for CubeSat.<br>· ADCS specification development and test requirements.<br>· Assess and select ADCS sensors and actuators, and perform “in-house development”-vs- “COTS” trade-study as needed for a specific mission.<br>· Identify ADCS verification and validation approach for CubeSat, and acceptance tests for components.<br>· Collaborate with internal and external collaborators to select and validate hardware systems at subsystem level and spacecraft level.<br>· Participate in the development of control algorithms, attitude and position determination algorithms for CubeSat.<br>· Perform functional analysis, design and procurement trade-offs.
