JOB TITLE: Regional Communications Impact Officer – Middle East, North Africa & Eastern Europe

Amman (Regional office) or remote from another Save the Children office (with a workable time zone), preferably within the MENAEE region

Type of Contract: fixed term national 12 months renewable
CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 2: either the post holder will have access to personal data about children and/or young people as part of their work; or the post holder will be working in a ‘regulated’ position (accountant, barrister, solicitor, legal executive); therefore, a police check will be required (at ‘standard’ level in the UK or equivalent in other countries).
ROLE PURPOSE:
Middle East, North Africa, and Eastern Europe (MENAEE) is an exceptionally busy region, with ambitious advocacy, supporter growth, fundraising and programme delivery targets designed to maximise the positive impact that we can have for children across the world.
Central to our global strategy are four global strategic goals (our Global Goals) – Healthy Start in Life, Safe Back to School and Learning, Live Free from Violence, and Safety Nets and Resilient Families. Framed within our Global Goals, the Regional Communications Impact Officer will be a crucial role in helping to tell the stories of our impact and innovation for and with children, to external and internal audiences.
Reporting into the Regional Strategic Communications Manager, the Regional Communications Officer will be a digital expert and a creative storyteller, with a proactive and hands-on attitude. They will work collaboratively with colleagues across comms and media, advocacy, fundraising and programmes, both regionally and globally.

Role Dimensions: this is a highly demanding, fast-moving role that requires strong communication skills and big picture thinking. It requires excellent project management, strong analytical capabilities and first-rate written and spoken communication. The role will require an ability to work in a networked structure across functional and geographical boundaries.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
- Continually identify and gather stories of impact and innovation across the MENAEE countries that can be used across Regional, Member and Global channels
- Produce and distribute stories across internal and external channels
- A good understanding of the MENAEE region and adept at effectively engaging with local stakeholders through tailored communication strategies.
- Support with managing the MENAEE social media channels, including drafting posts, identifying stories, data analysis, and managing an editorial calendar
- Stay up-to-date with the latest digital trends and technologies and share across the region.
- Support with delivering digital comms trainings to countries, working with the Regional Strategic Communications Manager
- Deliver a regular newsletter to the region that’s concise, engaging and facilitates collaboration
- Support in delivering regional impact reports and deliver end of year impact report to showcase the region’s impact and key achievements with the rest of the movement
- Support with ad hoc administrative tasks and requests for the communications team
- Provide communications, admin and coordination support during emergencies

QUALIFICATIONS
Desirable: Educated to degree level in a relevant field (e.g., International Development; Politics, International Relations; Journalism, Communication, Marketing).
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced high energy environment with multiple projects and priorities, able to deliver to tight deadlines.
- Excellent digital communications skills, with extensive experience running social media and other digital channels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to motivate, influence and negotiate both internally and externally
- Design and video production skills preferred
- Exceptional project management skills
- Strong analytics skills, in distilling large amount of information into useable outputs
- Demonstrates a high level of interpersonal and communication skills including influencing and negotiation.
- Exceptional written communication skills in English and Arabic, with a proven ability to distil large amounts of information for diverse audiences; skills in other languages would be an advantage
- Exceptional planning and organisational skills, with an ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple demands and competing priorities, while maintaining high quality standards.
- Great ability to work as part of a team within a networked structure, and to maintain good working relationships with colleagues across functional and geographical boundaries.
- Significant ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to adapt work plans flexibly depending on external opportunities.
