Job Description

Key Accountabilities

Project Management

  • Act as Client Representative & first point of contact for all related parties on assigned projects.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders and/or external service providers to ensure successful execution of the assigned project(s).
  • Manage project issues taking actions to ensure their quick resolution and escalate the major issues to superiors to maintain project continuity and efficiency.
  • Develop, share and ensure compliance with the project plans developed for managed projects in order to ensure that projects are executed profitably and yield the required results.
  • Manage the process of design review of project layouts and any changes that would come up within the project lifecycle in order to ensure effective project execution.
  • Manage the completion process of the projects, based on the closing out procedures and handing over the premises to facilities team.
  • Implement the project management standards methodology and process from project initiation to the close out, in order to ensure that the execution of projects is in line with the desired results.
  • Ensure effective project information management so that it is easily accessible to other concerned parties / individuals.
  • Ensure cost effectiveness of in-house projects while retaining the design concept guidelines.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Planning and programming, setting and monitoring of milestones and KPI’s
  • Delay and critical path analysis, including review of requests for Extensions of Time
  • Procurement strategy planning and implementation
  • Preparation of RFP’s and ITT’s for professional services, contractors and supply-contracts, including Tender analysis and recommendation
  • Stakeholder management to ensure consultant deliverables and services are issued in a satisfactory and timely manner
  • Commercial management for administering change control procedures, certifying contractor and consultant payment requests, assessing entitlement for variations, claims and extensions of time, final account negotiations
  • Contract administration
  • Preparation and drafting of contractual notices and correspondences to protect the position of the Employer and reserve rights under the Contract

Other Accountabilities

Monitoring and Control

  • Monitor and report on project progress and budgets to superiors as per the agreed timelines and reporting formats
  • Oversee the work of external service providers on an ongoing basis and throughout the life cycle of the projects.
  • Communicate with the contractors for pricing of minor layout changes and managing the process till the completion stage.
  • Ensure thorough monitoring and control of the project’s quality in order to secure the compliance with quality standards and meeting the stakeholders’ needs.

Continuous Improvement

Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices considering ‘international leading practice’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures

Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

Statements and Reports

  • Prepare project’s summary progress reports with the project status updates, and closing out report.
  • Assist in the preparation of timely and accurate departmental statements and reports to meet department requirements, policies and standards.

Quality, Health, Safety, & Environment

Ensure all relevant quality, health, safety and environmental procedures, instructions and controls are adhered to so that the safety of employees, quality of products/services and environmental compliance can be guaranteed.

Skills

Key Competencies:

  • Strong technical understanding of construction processes and methods.
  • Commercial acumen with good knowledge of construction pricing data, valuation principles and best practice procedures.
  • Well versed in administration of standard form construction contracts, namely FIDIC
  • Project management skills for enhanced project delivery.
  • Rigid engineering background with a strong knowledge of computer aided design.
  • Ability to think laterally and provide creative solutions to deliver projects and give strategic directions.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to drive and achieve desired results within the defined time duration.
  • Ability to interact with internal and external customers in a multi-cultural environment.

Required Experience:

  • 15-20 years experience in Construction, with involvement in similar complex projects either on the contractor, consultant or the client side.
  • Preferable experience in hotel projects or high rise residential projects.

Job Location:

The job is based in Qatar, however there is a requirement to travel within the region

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent
