<strong>Overview</strong><p><br></p><strong> Position </strong><p><br></p>Project Director – Mining & Green Steel<p><br></p><strong> Department </strong><p><br></p>Mining & Green Steel<p><br></p><strong> Sector </strong><p><br></p>OXAGON<p><br></p><strong> Division/Section </strong><p><br></p>Mining & Green Steel<p><br></p><strong> Role Purpose </strong><p><br></p>This individual will work cross-functionally to coordinate all aspects of the mine and steel project, from Initiation through Execution, while ensuring the project stays on time and on budget. This also includes management of issues, risks and project change requests to ensure successful and on-time project delivery. The Project Director will contribute to process improvement initiatives as it relates to improving project delivery.<p><br></p>The Project Director has the authority to run the project on a day-to-day basis and verifies that the project produces the required quality deliverables, within the specified constraints of time and cost and to achieve the potential benefits defined in the business case.<p><br></p><strong>Key Accountabilities & Activities</strong><p><br></p><strong> Leadership </strong><ul><li></li><ul><li> Work closely with the executive leadership team and other key stakeholders, communicating key milestones and updates regularly </li><li> Lead a cross functional team to ensure key deliverables are met on time and on budget </li><li> Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project and program team </li><li> Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project and program team, analyze results and troubleshoot problem areas </li></ul></ul><p><br></p><strong> Strategic Planning, project execution </strong><ul><li></li><ul><li> Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all potential strategic options and projects </li><li> Collaborate in cross-functional teams to garner pertinent information for assessing strategic options </li><li> Project planning & implementation </li><li> Drive the development of the project and Front-End Load to ensure a smooth Execution Phase </li><li> Ensure project adheres to corporate governance requirements and lifecycle stages </li><li> Ensure that risk management is conducted throughout the project lifecycle </li><li> Review and approve the engagement of contractors and suppliers </li><li> Review of equipment and services bid packages </li><li> Implement procurement schedule for labor, plant and materials based on requirements of the overall project timeline </li><li> Develop, implement and monitor detailed short-term plans for all project and construction activities </li><li> Monitor and update work activities against construction plan </li><li> Ensure allocated work packages and resources are managed to ensure costs are within or below budget and contribute to the achievement of project targets </li><li> Maintain detailed safety, budget and schedule performance reporting </li><li> Coordinate and lead construction and engineering staff in the construction of the works </li></ul></ul><p><br></p><strong>Background, Skills & Qualifications</strong><p><br></p><strong> Knowledge, Skills and Experience </strong><ul><li></li><ul><li> Prior experience working in a robust, stage-gated project management framework to develop heavy industrial projects </li><li> Prior experience with mining or steel projects is preferred </li><li> Prior experience with and direct involvement in prefeasibility and feasibility studies </li><li> Background in large project management (at least > $100M USD, preferably >$1B USD) </li><li> Broad understanding of project management EPC management, project controls, contract management, risk management & change management </li><li> Advanced experience developing project management timelines, structures and deliverables </li><li> Working knowledge of engineering deliverables </li><li> Superior oral and written communications skills, ability to effectively engage with a diverse group of project stakeholders </li><li> Comfortable managing a complex project in an ambiguous environment </li><li> Ability to lead multi-faceted projects and teams to drive decisions and outcomes </li><li> Ability to manage a heavy workload and travel for short periods (1-2 weeks) </li><li> Strong collaboration skills </li></ul></ul><p><br></p><strong>Qualifications</strong><ul><li></li><ul><li> BS or MS in an Engineering field with a minimum of 15-20 or more years of related experience in heavy industrial operations and/or projects </li><li> Prior experience with steel or mining projects is preferred, but not required </li><li> Professional Engineering certification in related discipline is preferred </li><li> Certification as a Project Management Professional or equivalent is preferred, but not required</li></ul></ul>
