<strong><u>Job Description</u></strong><p><br></p><strong>The Position:</strong><p><br></p>The Programme Analyst for Youth &amp; Communication (PA YC) is located in the UNFPA GCC Office in Muscat, Oman and reports directly to the Representative and the Assistant Representative.<p><br></p><strong><u>How You Can Make a Difference</u></strong><p><br></p>UNFPA is the lead UN agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person’s potential is fulfilled. Our strategic plan calls upon UN Member States, organizations and individuals to β€œbuild forward better”, while addressing the negative impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on women’s and girls’ access to sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights, recover lost gains and realize our goals.<p><br></p>In a world where fundamental human rights are at risk, we need principled and ethical staff, who embody these international norms and standards, and who will defend them courageously and with full conviction.<p><br></p>UNFPA is seeking candidates that transform, inspire and deliver high impact and sustained results; we need staff who are transparent, exceptional in how they manage the resources entrusted to them and who commit to deliver excellence in programme results.<p><br></p><strong><u>Job Purpose</u></strong><p><br></p>The Programme Analyst for Youth &amp; Communication assists in the design, planning and management of UNFPA GCC programme by analyzing and assessing the relevant political, social and economic trends.<p><br></p>S/He introduces innovation as an integrational approach to the programme team based on international trends and regional requirements.<p><br></p>Under the leadership of the Representative, the PA YC ensures that the GCC sub-regional communication, with a focus on social media, is client and target oriented and meeting efficiency and effectiveness criteria.<p><br></p>The PA YC assists with programme/ project implementation by using and developing appropriate mechanisms and systems and ensures compliance with established procedures, as well as by monitoring results achieved during implementation.<p><br></p><strong><u>You Would Be Responsible For</u></strong><p><br></p><ul><li>Participates in the identification and formulation of the programme, including the United Nations Sustainable Corporation Development Framework (UNSCDF) and component projects by compilingand analyzing information relevant to the UNFPA’srole in the respective GCC country, drafting projectdocuments and work plans for the six GCC countries.</li><li>Evaluates project and programme activities, establishes ways to systematically assess achievement and recommends corrective actionas required; conductsfield visits; participates in review meetings and evaluation missions and preparesregular inputs to status and progress reports.</li><li>Analyzes andinterprets the political, social and economicenvironment in the GCC countries relevantto Youth, and identifies opportunities for UNFPA assistance and intervention.</li><li>Identifies and implements cultural appropriate but innovative ways of communication, including on social media. </li><li>Analyzes policy papers, strategy documents and national development plans; prepares briefs and inputs for policy dialogue, technical assistance coordination, and development frameworks.</li><li>Assesses implications of new policy developments and strategies on programme execution, and ensures their integration.</li><li>Establishes collaborative relationships with executing agencies, experts, government approaches of the GCCO, and drafts relevant materials for dissemination.</li><li>Assists in advocacy, communication and as required resource mobilization efforts of the GCC office, by establishing and maintaining a network of donor and public information contacts.
