<strong>Detailed Job Description</strong><p><br></p><strong>Scope:</strong><p><br></p>The process safety engineer’s core function is to evaluate the risks associated with engineering processes and help develop safe protocols. Additionally, act as a resource for technical staff in the application of the company’s Loss Prevention Standards, Responsible Care Standards, and Process Safety procedures. Moreover, provide process technology support to projects, operating plants, as well as ensuring that process engineering standards and procedures are met during the development, design, and construction phases of a project and improved upon as deemed necessary<p><br></p><strong>Principle duties and responsibilities:</strong><p><br></p>Manage and conduct the HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, PHSER and other safety studies/reviews, as well as track and assist with any resulting recommendations<p><br></p>Supervise the application of Process Safety elements as per project development stages<p><br></p>Perform risk analysis and coach others on the use of risk analysis techniques<p><br></p>Provide project support, including support for process engineering to the full development of process packages, application of modeling software, and design of relief devices<p><br></p>Implement Process Hazard Analysis studies findings and Safety in design throughout the different phases of the project execution and Operation<p><br></p>Collaborate with teams to discover and implement long-term process improvement efforts<p><br></p>Perform audit of process safety management systems and execute risk mitigation corrective actions<p><br></p>Assist with data collection for Quantitative Assessment (QRA) tools<p><br></p>Review Risk Assessment Screenings for Management of Change (MOC), organize and deliver effective and efficient Process Safety Trainings as needed for stewardship of processes<p><br></p>Oversee risk management and make possible multiple qualitative Process Hazard Analysis using techniques such as and not limited to HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, What if<p><br></p>Assist Incident Investigation teams in investigating and classifying process safety incidents, as well as provide support in the development of process tools and action plans to close identified Process Safety gaps<p><br></p>Implement Active and Passive fire protection requirements into projects, and prepare Fire water P&ID’s<p><br></p>Perform various functions, work collectively and collaboratively with other project engineers to provide loss prevention and risk management support for major growth projects in the organization<p><br></p>Comply with all Enerflex HR, Quality, HSE, and all the Company policies, procedures, processes, work instructions and guidelines<p><br></p>Perform all other duties as assigned by Supervisor / Manager<p><br></p><strong>Job specifications:</strong><p><br></p>Minimum a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering<p><br></p>Minimum 8 years of engineering experience supporting Projects and/or Operations, such as plant or process engineering, project design, execution, engineering and/or technical service roles<p><br></p>Solid understanding of process safety elements, practical knowledge leading hazard assessments and exposure to industry Codes and Standards (such as and not limited to NFPA, API, IEC, DNV)<p><br></p>Familiar with Management of Change (MOC), Risk Management, and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) risk assessments<p><br></p>Familiar with Software packages : PHAST, Flarenet.<p><br></p>Fluent in managing and evaluating the applicability of technical safety/risk studies in projects. Understanding of process hazards, failure<p><br></p>mechanisms, and safeguards<p><br></p>Ability to work with cross-functional teams, people of diverse cultural environment, expertise background and handle work stress/pressure<p><br></p>Effective verbal and written communication skills with proven track record of influencing, engaging, and facilitating workgroups. As well as managing interfaces with engineering consultants, construction, operations, and others<p><br></p>Diligent and attentive to details with strong technical skills to discover hazards to lives and property in the workplace<p><br></p><strong>Working conditions:</strong><p><br></p>Remote site working conditions, noisy environment, hot and humid climate, vibrating platforms, long working hours and different shifts schedules.
