Research in these sectors is enhanced by our research platforms of Robotics, AI and Data Science, Information and Communication Technologies, and Advanced Materials and Manufacturing as well as Fundamental Sciences.<br><br>Position Overview<br>KU is seeking a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Fellow to work on a funded project to investigate the<br>development of development of a novel, low-cost, integrated array of electrochemical biosensing device, probes, and instrumentation systems for the detection of emerging organic contaminants that are of relevance to public health<br>The project will focus on the selection and identification of DNA aptamers against various targets. Then research will involve studying, design, fabricating, testing, and optimizing new sensing array platform structures; new designs and instrumentation architectures; integration of various nanomaterials, calibration and procedures for construction of single and multi-analyte biosensing systems.<br>As part of the project, the researcher will have access to state-of-the-art research equipment and facilities at the AMCC center, the analytical chemistry and biochemistry core lab, the material testing lab, Raman and AFM labs, Electron microscopy facility. and will get an opportunity to work alongside researchers and graduate students from various backgrounds as part of a wider team.<br>Position Requirements<br>- Conduct research on the development of electrochemical biosensors<br>- Design and fabrication of biosensors using nanomaterials<br>- Good knowledge in electrochemical techniques such as cyclic, square wave, differential pulse voltammetry.<br>- Knowledge in electrode modifications and bioreceptor immobilization<br>- Conduct research on the development of DNA aptamer modified electrodes.<br>- Contribute to writing grants, drafting patents and attending conferences<br>- Working knowledge on surface characterization techniques such as SEM, Raman spectroscopy, FTIR, and XPS.<br>- Train new lab personnel on lab methods, safety protocols, and standard operating procedures<br>· Drafting project specific SOPs and risk-assessments for laboratory equipment and chemicals<br>· Performing analyses in collaboration with senior scientists locally and internationally<br>- Adhere to the University’s information security and confidentiality policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly<br>- Perform any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager.
