One position is available for full-time Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Department of Food Science / College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, UAE University. The focus of the research is in area of Food Industry Waste and by-product Utilisation and Valorisation. The position is funded by the grant: “Resilient Agrifood Dynamism through evidence based policies-READY” supported by the Ministry of Education through the Collaborative Research Program Grant 2019. This is position with high expectation from the Post-Doc fellow with respect to leading the research, supervising graduate students and leading the manuscript writing part.
Minimum Qualifications: The candidate is expected to have a PhD in Food Science, Food Technology, or a closely related field, from a reputable University. Previous post-doctoral and/or academic experience will be an asset. Indicatively, evidence of experience and impact of previous research can be provided through publication metrics (h-index, i-index, publication and citation numbers). The Post doc must have experience in new product development, recovery of bioactive compounds from food waste, edible films and functional foods. Duties of the Post-Doc will include developing methods and optimising formulations for extruder based food products (for both human and animal consumption), optimising novel extraction methods for the recovery of bioactives from regionally important food waste, developing and improving formulations for novel, functional edible films and coatings. Significant input in the experimental design is expected. Significant input in dissemination of result through high quality research publication is expected. Significant input in the day-to-day supervision of 2/3 PhD students also employed through the grant is expected, therefore previous supervisory experience (to completion) is highly desirable. Preferred Qualifications: The Post-Doc will be able to evidence experience in working in a multi-cultural setting. The Post-Doc will be well versed in interdisciplinary projects, therefore evidenced experience of interaction with a range of stakeholders (academia, government entities, research organisations, primary producers, relevant industry as well as the public) is considered a strong asset.
