Job Description
Key Accountabilities & Activities:
- Contribute to the day to day operations of the Fitness Area
- Plan and execute fitness training programmes, interventions, and evaluations for athlete to achieve progress for fitness or optimal recovery.
- Contribute to the design and application of specialised fitness and exercise programmes for specific needs
- Conduct the athletes’ fitness training programmes in accordance with his / her total care plan.
- Maintain a high standard of ethical and professional behaviour when treating and dealing with athletes / patients.
- Assure athletes / patient safety, comfort and well being, through proper and appropriate use of equipment and exercise / training techniques.
- Keep abreast of latest fitness and training updates, develops professional skills and knowledge, and avails appropriate new services and modalities to athletes putting the unit at the forefront of Fitness Training and Physical Coaching.
- Utilizes a limited variety of assessment and treatment techniques and skills proficiently.
- Demonstrates active participation at staff professional development activities (case reviews, workshops, courses and in-services)
- Recommend the procurement of appropriate fitness and gym equipment and technology and ensures their proper use and regular maintenance.
- Work skilfully under the guidance of a senior physical coach to optimise their clinical caseload management
- Assist in the promotion and marketing of the Fitness Area programmes.
- Assumes any other responsibilities as directed by the Head of Rehabilitation within the scope of the Physical Coach
- Participate in the departmental personal development and performance review system to promote personal and service developments.
- Participate in clinical audit to support the fitness training service clinical governance strategy at a basic level
- Liaise with Senior Physiotherapists and other Rehab staff to gain support and direction in management of their caseload.
- Educate gym users on safety and gym etiquettes and rules and regulations.
- Shall work closely within the Rehabilitation Team, with the Sports Medicine and Sports Science teams, in supporting treatment or training objectives which are realistic and consistent with patients’ and athletes’ needs.
- Serve as resource person for specialised exercise and fitness training advice, providing support, consultation and counselling to all levels of staff.
- Maintain patient documentation, records and accurate statistical information to reflect care provided and meet professional standards.
- Assume any other responsibilities as directed by the direct supervisor.
Education and Certification requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in physical education or equivalent.
- Recognised Fitness Instructor’s Certification (FIC) (or equivalent) is desired.
- Postgraduate certifications in related specialty areas (e.g.: ACSM) are advantageous.
Necessary knowledge and Experience to be able to do the job:
- 6-8 years of related experience of which a minimum of 2-3 year should be in similar position / responsibility, preferably in a similar Industry
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to multi-task and to work with frequent interruptions.
- Meticulous and pays attention to detail.
- Ability to work well under pressure
- Sports administration background would be advantageous
