Job Description
The Arts and Humanities division is launching a new research initiative called “Research Kitchens.” These are spaces for nourishing interdisciplinary collaboration and research innovation, organized around four themes. We invite applications for the position of Research Assistant to participate in the kitchens for a period of up to 3 years.
The successful candidate will support the interdisciplinary endeavours of four research spaces working on:
- Heritage, Memory, and Mobility
- The Anthropocene: Urbanism, the Environment, and Sustainability
- Human Rights In and For the 21st Century
- Research in Writing, Languages, and Pedagogy
The Role
The Research Assistant will provide extensive research support to all activities of the kitchens. The successful candidate can expect to be mentored by faculty/researchers during the duration of their tenure.
Key Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assists carrying out a variety of research activities (activities will be interdisciplinary by nature and will involve artistic endeavours).
- Assists in the design, management and reporting of multiple interdisciplinary projects to internal and external stakeholders
- Assists in building relationships with existing and potential funders, research partners, research sites, etc.
- Assists with delivering programming for each kitchen such as seminars, working groups, workshops, etc.
- Assists in proposal/grant-writing, drafting progress reports, etc.
- Assists the research team with disseminating research results, helping to prepare manuscripts and presentations.

- Bachelor Degree or Master of Arts

Required Experience/Skills
- Knowledge of research in the arts and humanities.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Ability to work collegially with a wide range of faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
Desirable
- Participation in research in the arts and humanities.
- Knowledge of/interest in working with creative artistic research
- Experience in fundraising and grant writing
