(Water Mobility)

Role purpose

Reporting to the Public Water Mobility Manager, the Water Mobility Technical Superintendent will provide comprehensive oversight of the technical operation of all NEOM owned vessels. The role will focus on the effective delivery of NEOM owned vessels to a Service Provider in order to enter revenue service. With vessels in service the role will ensure effective oversight of planned and preventative maintenance, defect management, warranty claims and root cause analysis of any technical breakdowns.

The Water Mobility Technical Superintendent will form close ties with the contracted Service Provider to ensure a high state of technical availability of all NEOM Water Mobility craft.

Key Accountabilities And Responsibilities

  • Work with the existing stakeholders on developing and implementing state of the art public water mobility services across NEOM
  • Support the oversight of new build vessels and their introduction into service
  • Oversee the technical performance of vessels to ensure they are safely and efficiently maintained to deliver a reliable service to customers
  • Work closely with the Service Provider and vessel teams to verify that the routine and unplanned maintenance is recorded effectively
  • Ensure that all defects are effectively recorded and tracked to resolution. Ensure guarantee defects are recorded and transmitted to vessel builder for rectification
  • Provide analysis of any technical issues with a view to identify common issues, trends and translating this analysis into the adoption of a preventative maintenance strategy
  • Work with a dedicated Water Mobility team
  • In relation to Technical Services manage the interaction with external parties including but not limited to Flag Authority, Classification Society, OEMs, third party suppliers and shipyards.
  • Carry out technical inspections on NEOM owned and chartered vessels.

Knowledge, Skills And Experience

  • Highly developed creative thinking, problem-solving, research, analytical, oral and written communication skills required
  • Expertise in the technical design and operation of short-sea passenger vessels
  • Experience with managing planned preventative maintenance systems
  • Familiarity with rules and regulations regarding environment and heritage protection
  • Specific examples of work and project experience in the Middle East region is an advantage, with experience in Saudi Arabia strongly preferred
  • High-level communication and presentation skills and ability to interact with a diverse set of p rofessional disciplines, partners and stakeholders
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines

Qualifications

  • Be a Graduate / postgraduate degree in a mechanical or electrical engineering discipline, or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the management of engineering maintenance, repair and operations
  • Ideally have experience as shipboard engineer at the management level
  • Complete fluency in English is required
  • Complete fluency in Arabic and other languages will be an advantage
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products (PowerPoint, Excel and Word), with knowledge in other presentational and organizational products or multi-media tools being an advantage
