Duties and Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Ministry of Defence Health Services (MODHS) is undergoing a healthcare service transformation, with the goal being to position MODHS as the best healthcare provider in the country. In Nursing this will be achieved primarily through the adoption of Magnet principles. The Specialized Nurse will help drive and deliver required changes in collaboration with other disciplines and stakeholders.

Supports Nursing Administration by providing specialized, professional clinical and/or non-clinical expertise under their specialized scope (see addendum per specialty area) as well as assisting Nursing Administration in meeting targets/deliverables under their expertise, and as per delegation or assignment. 

Supports Nursing Administration in the overall Strategic Plan through transformational leadership, inclusive of developing and leading a program, as per their area of expertise.

Cares for patients of all ages in the inpatient and outpatient settings, specializing in pain management techniques for acute and chronic pain, with the goal of relieving pain and improving the patient’s quality of life. The Pain Management Nurse also works with terminally ill patients in ensuring they are as comfortable as possible.

 

Education/Licensure  

Education:

Essential: Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited institution of Nursing.

Preferred: Master’s degree in nursing or specialized area of practice

Preferred: Certified training in area of specialty

Essential: Evidence of continuing professional and personal development

Currently employed and high-performing Nursing Diploma-holder in this position may remain as Specialized Nurse in non-Magnet designated/non-Magnet Journey hospitals, but NOT eligible for promotion.

EssentialBLS Certification

Professional Licensure:

Essential: Valid license and registration in home country (non-Saudi nationals).

Essential: Registration with Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS).

Professional Experience

Essential: Minimum 3+ years recent progressive nursing experience, exclusive of fulltime study period.

Preferred: 1+ year nursing experience in area of specialty

Essential: Active participation in or have co-led/lead an improvement project or initiative

Preferred: Participation in hospital accreditation (e.g. CBAHI, JCI).

Preferred: Magnet journey accreditation experience.
