<p><strong>About Heenat Salma Farm</strong></p><p>Heenat Salma Farm is the pride of Caravane Earth. A farm in the middle of an arid and desert climate, it is now fertile land producing multiple types of vegetables, fruits and flora. Heenat Salma Farm is a place to create a community for education and social engagement, spreading the values of regenerative agriculture and permaculture practices. Our concept is unique for this region, with the potential to redefine and reconceive how we interact with the land. To achieve this objective, Heenat Salma Farm requires a passionate and dedicated Nursery Manager to lead and develop the concept further.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>The Role:</strong></p><p><br></p><p>This is a key role working as part of our professional team, assisting the Team Manager to ensure the highest standards of horticulture, as part of a great team responsible for managing a largest and most diverse ecological gardens.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>As a Nursery Manager you will:</strong></p><ul><li>Handle the daily operation of the Nursery team, ensuring high standards of horticulture and visitor experience, directing, and organizing activities as agreed with Team Manager.</li><li>Responsible for the nursery operation, including 5 organic nursery for Plant Collections including native species programmes, plant propagation, and management of the planting in various tropical houses and feature gardens </li><li>Be responsible for the work programming and daily operations and lead permaculture, and voluntary work placements as delegated and required by TM.</li><li>Be responsible for routine one-to-one meetings of permaculture /Horticulturists and Lead Horticulturists, managing and supporting their training and professional development.</li><li>Have good relevant knowledge and current best practise horticultural management, to include related conservation initiatives.</li><li>Contribute towards Heenat Salma conservation, research, education, and visitor experience objectives, in line with the organic and ecological collection plan, Conservation Masterplan (CMP) and Strategic Development Plan (SDP).</li><li>Deputise for the Team Manager as directed.</li><li>Represent and promote Heenat Salma Farm, ensuring an excellent external reputation.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Our Requirements:</strong></p><ul><li>Degree in Agriculture/Organic Farming/Permaculture (or equivalent) qualification in Horticulture.</li><li>Proven professional experience in a horticultural position, preferably within a garden open to the public.</li><li>A good working knowledge of garden plants and their cultivation.</li><li>Experience of using horticultural machinery and monitoring Health and Safety compliance.</li><li>Experience supervising a team and managing horticultural work programmes.</li><li>Good communication skills to engage with other staff and deal with visitors, public talks, and requests for information from outside sources.</li><li>An ability to motivate and encourage horticultural staff </li></ul><p>A positive, collaborative, and cooperative working style, with the ability to work with colleagues internally and externally across various disciplines</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Competencies</strong></p><ul><li>Passionate about nature and the environment and able to share that knowledge.</li><li>Fully aware that operating nursery, design involves more than gardening and farming, is an integrated design system involving all aspects of human settlements, and not simply an agriculture/gardening set of methods/techniques.</li><li>Resourceful and able to think creatively to get maximum value from a limited budget.</li><li>Highly-organized with great attention to detail.</li></ul>
