Job Title: Methods – Tooling Engineer/Manager

Purpose of the job:

  • Manage the methods and manufacturing processes to optimize production QCD performance (organization of the work, tooling and processes).

In this respect the person in charge complies with Ethics and Compliance policies

  • Creation on Catia of drawings for specific tools.
  • Receipt of ordered tools.
  • Manage the internal and external calibration of tools.
  • Force of proposal for the improvement of tools and means of production.
  • Perform continuous improvement on production lines in order to increase QCD manufacturing productivity

Industrialization:

  • Propose, set up, and improve the manufacturing processes: workstations, tooling, industrialization rules, routings, assembly instructions
  • Set up and maintain the bookshop of times / methods library
  • Design and optimize the machines setting-up in workshops as well as the organization of every workstation
  • Support for continuous improvement of manufacturing lines
  • Participate in the design of machines and specific tooling equipment
  • Contribute to Process FMEA and associated improvement action plan
  • Qualify industrial means related to manufacturing, repairs and rework
  • Ensure the technology watch to evolve process and manufacturing means
  • Develop and insure the follow-up of the performance indicators of production tools and set up the associated action plans (predictive, preventive or curative actions)
  • Complies with EHS Alstom and external standards
  • Issue relevant documents in the Quality System
  • Ensure schedules, inputs and QCD targets are achieved
  • Manage overhead budget, CAPEX and investments related to new manufacturing equipment

Transmission:

  • Train the workers and EPU managers during design and industrialization phases
  • Ensure continuous training and permanent qualification of the workers

Execution / Serial manufacturing:

  • Guarantees internal control and good application of process rules in line with customers’ requirements
  • Insure the maintenance of the production equipment
  • Manage maintenance and control of active tools on site and at subcontractors
  • In case of non-conformity or incident, investigate root causes, finds and implement corrective solutions
  • Support Sourcing and Supplier Quality teams during quality crisis

Transverse:

  • Propose improvement ideas and evolution of the tooling on their domain

Key Job Authorities and Dimensions:

  • Tooling Engineer manages technicians that are eventually under his responsibility

  • OEE (Overall Equipment effectiveness)
  • Spent time Vs Methods time / Maintenance cost
  • FMR & SMR Go On Time

Educational Requirements:

Mandatory

Engineering degree in process engineering, electronics, electrical or mechanical domain

Mandatory

  • 1 to 5 years’ experience in industrial method
  • Practice the concerned special process (execution, definition, qualification)
  • Would have to be trained to Alstom Special Process standard training
