Envision Employment Solutions is currently on the look for a Mechanical Design Section Head for one of our partners, a multinational Oil and Gas company

Job Summary:

Holder of this title will be asked to participate in the design, development of an ROV and its control algorithms. The candidate is expected to have hands on experience with computational fluid dynamics, embedded systems and experimental testing. This engineer will work within a cross-functional team of engineering, manufacturing, design, and product testing. A successful candidate will be a highly creative mechanical engineer following disciplined engineering process, a resourceful problem solver, and a superb team player.

Responsibilities:

  • Establishes, discusses and approves general, technical and management plans assigned by direct manager
  • Divides general department plans into sub-plans according to available department resources
  • Identify and discuss appropriate objectives and policies for the implementation of management plans with department heads or with other parties
  • Distributes tasks and responsibilities to sub-ordinates
  • Supervises and organizes all related work
  • Follows up the implementation of all plans and tasks periodically to assure achieving the required tasks at the specified time
  • Reviews all reports submitted by sub-ordinates or other parties, corrects and approves them before they are issued
  • Intervenes to solve any problem that hinders the achievement of the required objectives and ensure that all technical and administrative problems are resolved using the best solutions
  • Determines technical specifications, best methods and solutions for all tasks entrusted to him and provides appropriate technical and administrative recommendations
  • Submits regular reports on the progress of the work and presents it to the head of Department
  • Supervises, executes and participates in product characterization processes, product research and development, for continuous improvement, increasing production efficiency and reducing costs
  • Dealing with research centers, institutes, universities and consultants to solve problems and find better solutions
  • Provides technical support to the employees of the department, monitors their performance periodically and evaluate their performance according to the time plan. All performance assessments are delivered to human resources management
  • Participates in the preparation of annual budget of the Department and identifies the actual needs of the Department in coordination with the heads of departments
  • Supervises technical tests for engineers, technicians and new drafters in order to select the best applicants from the technical point of view and make sure to provide necessary manpower to complete the work in all sections
  • Participates in preparation of annual training development plan for department employees whether technical or administrative according to the results of performance evaluation that identifies employees’ performance gaps. Follows up implementation and measures the return of training in developing administrative and technical levels
  • Ensures that all safety and occupational health management instructions are implemented within the department. Seeks to provide a healthy working environment for workers
  • Adopts all performance assessments required and delivers them to human resources management
  • Creates a system for saving, archiving documents, drawings and reports
  • Coordinates work with other departments

Requirements:

  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 10 – 15 years of experience in Mechanical Design. Relevant experience in Design of Subsea solutions is preferred
  • Age not exceeding 45 years old
  • Has at least 3 years’ experience in workshop machining.
  • Work closely with team(s) and 3rd workshops in simulations, assembly and manufacturing
  • Proactive with ability to identify issues and propose solutions
  • Competent in decision making, analysis, and innovation
  • Good time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Ability to work under a fast pace environment with tight schedule
  • Proficient in Solidworks and Finite Element Analysis
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and verbal communication skills
