<p><strong>Micropolis Robotics</strong> is looking for a hardworking, proactive, and results-oriented, <strong>Mechanical Design Engineer</strong> to join our team and work together on exciting technologies for complex autonomous systems. </p><p><br></p><p><strong>Job Description:</strong> </p><p><br></p><p>As <strong>Mechanical Design Engineer</strong>, you will support our engineering team throughout the development and prototyping of innovative autonomous platforms and automated robotic systems. You will coordinate with our mechatronics and electronics teams to develop functional mechanical systems according to predefined specifications. </p><p>You will partake in all aspects of product development from concept design to production and validation. We are looking for candidates with prior experience in mechanical design &amp; development, preferably from an automotive background. Experience in Robotics, Automation, R&amp;D or Machine Design will be considered. </p><p><br></p><p><strong>Duties and Responsibilities:</strong> </p><ul><li>Generate concepts based on design requirements/specifications and develop functional parts, assemblies, and systems </li><li>Perform engineering calculations and simulations on new and existing designs to optimize overall safety, performance, cost, durability, and reliability </li><li>Interact with multidisciplinary teams to understand design constraints </li><li>Review documentation to ensure compliance with design criteria and standards </li><li>Create and review detailed design drawings and documentation for production, design, testing, prototyping, assemblies and coordinate with involved departments to ensure efficient workflow and output </li><li>Perform and assist quality control of prototype parts </li><li>Assist in transitioning product design from preliminary stage to mass production phase </li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Desired Characteristics and Skills:</strong> </p><ul><li>A proven track record of developing, innovating, and applying mechanical engineering to address engineering problems </li><li>Expert in 3D CAD software, preferably Autodesk Inventor or Solid Works </li><li>Ability to design and develop mechanical systems and components in line with project requirements </li><li>Experience in simulation software beneficial </li><li>Familiar with working in a production environment </li><li>Familiar with basic workshop and hand tools </li><li>Experience in Concept Design, Product Development, Prototyping </li><li>Expertise in one or more of these areas: Automotive, Robotics, Machine design, R&amp;D, Sheetmetal, Simulation and Prototyping </li><li>You are a fast learner and also open to learn new methods and skills </li><li>Knowledge of manufacturing processes and technologies such as laser cutting, sheet metal bending, CNC milling and turning, 3D printing, rapid prototyping </li><li>Good understanding of engineering drawings, standards, tolerance stack-up analysis, GD&amp;T </li><li>Experience in defining SOPs for the design processes, BOM management, testing, and validation </li><li>Ability to collaborate regularly and comfortably across various departments to negotiate solutions that encourage strong relationships and continued success </li><li>Ability to work in a fast-paced environment: You are a pro-active, dynamic team player who thinks and plans ahead, and suggests solutions </li><li>Strong analytical thinker and able to solve problems from basic principals </li><li>Ability to maintain an organized and tidy workspace </li><li>Ability to work under pressure and maintain a positive and productive attitude while doing so </li><li>Knowledge of selecting commonly used mechanical components such as fasteners, springs, bearings etc. </li><li>Knowledge of material selection approach such as Aluminium, Steels, other metal alloys and plastics </li><li>Proactive with a continuous improvement mind-set </li><li>A willingness to be flexible and operate over a wide range of work areas, working times, supports and delivers changes when directed by the management </li><li>Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written in English </li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Qualification Required:</strong> </p><ul><li>Master’s degree / Bachelor’s in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering from an accredited university </li><li><strong>3-5 years working experience in relevant field </strong></li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Submit your CV along with a portfolio showcasing recent projects to career@micropolis.ae</strong></p>
