<strong>Overview / Responsibilities</strong><p><br></p>Wood is currently recruiting for a <strong>Lead Electrical Designer </strong> to be based in Dubai .<p><br></p><strong> Core Responsibilities required as below: </strong><p><br><br></p><ul><li> Develops working drawings, within company and industry standards and codes, from equipment specifications and detailed drawings to support completion of engineering deliverables </li><li> Design and mark – up drawings as appropriate (e.g. Single Line Diagrams, substation layouts, cable routing, lighting, earthing etc.) to a suitable level of detail </li><li> Ability to provide input data for preparing prepare Bill of Materials, cable schedules and / or termination schedules </li><li> Assist lead Engineer in design activities by timely developing the drawings as per project specific standards </li><li> Creates drawings involving plans, layouts, calculations and bills of material </li><li> Works on assignments involving a variety of design procedures and techniques </li><li> Records observations, performs calculations and prepares reports on assignments </li><li> Performs layouts, design and checking work from the basic data supplier </li><li> Designs and makes detail drawings from rough sketches involving intricate calculations and the application of fundamental engineering principles </li><li> Establishes project drafting standards and monitors their conformance </li><li> Identifies cost effective solutions to design problems </li><li> Prepares estimates of time, quantities, materials and labour required for activities related to testing, installation, manufacture, design or construction </li><li> Generates bill of materials from finished designs </li><li> Ensures quality in design, technical accuracy in the preparation of drawings, material quantities, etc including reviewing others work at more senior levels </li><li> Plans assigned work effectively and obtains / provides information liaising with the project team and line manager, in time to control man – hours and achieve targets </li><li> Carries out site visits / surveys and provides inputs to site visit reports </li><li> Assists the designers with the preparation of electrical drawings </li><li> Provide electrical engineering support to the other engineering disciplines </li><li> Attend discipline specific and general training courses where required </li><li> Ensures effective communications among other engineering disciplines and project management </li><li> Coordinate within members of discipline, other engineering disciplines within the organization or project team as well as with Clients, third parties, vendors etc. <br></li></ul><p><br></p><strong>Skills / Qualifications</strong><p><br><br></p><ul><li> Diploma in Electrical Engineering </li><li> Minimum 15 years of experience </li><li> Technically oriented, mechanically inclined, good at mathematics and talented at translating intangible concepts into hands – on project plans </li><li> Competent user of CAD / D software </li><li> Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Electrical engineering design and analysis </li><li> Experience in FEED, Brownfield Engineering, site visit and mark-ups. </li><li> PDS, PDMS, SP3D 3D Modelling or 2D Drafting </li><li> Basic Knowledge on SPEL </li><li> In – depth knowledge of design tools – AutoCAD and MicroStation </li><li> Ability to work in an organised and structured fashion, and within time constraints. <br></li></ul><p><br></p><strong>Company Overview</strong><p><br></p>Wood is a global leader in consulting and engineering, helping to unlock solutions to critical challenges in energy and materials markets.
