Mercy Corps’ current portfolio in\nJordan focuses on three domains: resilient individuals, strong communities and governance, and environmentally\nsustainable and inclusive economic growth. Mercy Corps integrates crosscutting themes of youth, gender equality\nand empowerment, governance, natural resource management and technology.\nThe Program / Department / Team\nUSAID Informal Livelihoods Advancement Activity (Iqlaa) is a five-year USAID-funded program that aims to\nsupport Jordan's home-based businesses (HBBs) and Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) to grow, transform, and\nbecome resilient to future shocks. HBBs and MSEs are essential drivers of employment and economic stability in\nJordan. Micro and small enterprises represent 98 percent of all businesses in Jordan and compose half of the\ncountry’s private sector employment. Therefore, the Iqlaa approach places formal and informal Jordanian HBBs\nand MSEs on a path to recovery, stabilization, and growth, focusing on four critical sectors: agriculture, tourism,\nmanufacturing, and services, with special attention to technology development and implementation.\nIqlaa works to implement best practices in crisis response, enterprise strengthening, inclusive job creation, and\nfinancial sector development within a market-systems development (MSD) framework and leveraging innovative\nbehavioral change methodologies to facilitate long-term, sustainable changes in the behaviors or stakeholders and\nbeneficiaries that align better with the current needs of Jordan’s MSEs. Iqlaa will offer bundled support through\ntechnical assistance and grants. The program will work with market sector actors to offer five main grants:\nformalization, start-up funding, business Growth, innovation \u0026amp; Scale, and technology Integration.\n\nGeneral Position Summary\n\nThe Information Management (IM) intern will provide essential support to the Program Quality and Learning (PQL)\nteam in assisting with data analysis, developing data collection forms on Commcare and Ona Platforms, and\npreparing infographics to describe the results extracted from the \"Iqla'a\" program. This position requires\nunderstanding statistical concepts and data visualization techniques, familiarity with designing survey questions,\ndefining data fields, and structuring forms to ensure accurate and relevant data collection, Proficiency in creating\nvisually appealing and informative infographics to describe the results of the \"Iqla'a\" program, and the ability to\nwork collaboratively with staff members.\nThis internship provides an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in gaining practical experience in the\nfield of Information Management. Overall, the intern will gain a valuable combination of technical, analytical,\ncommunication, and teamwork skills through their involvement in data analysis, data collection, and infographic\npreparation within the IM role. These skills and experiences can contribute to their future career growth and open\ndoors to various opportunities in the field of data management and analysis.\nEssential Responsibilities\n• Assist with Data Analysis: Support the program quality and learning team in analyzing collected\ndata.\n• Develope Data Collection Forms: Design and develop data collection forms using platforms such\nas Commcare and ODK, ensuring they capture the necessary data points in line with program\nobjectives.\n• Clean collected data to ensure accuracy and integrity.\n• Create infographics and data visualizations.\n• Perform regular checks on collected data (Piloting the conducted forms) to ensure completeness,\naccuracy, and adherence to data collection protocols. Identify and address any data quality issues\nor anomalies.\n• Any other duties as may be assigned.\n\nAccountability\nReports Directly To: The Information Management Coordinator.\nWorks Directly With: The Information Management Officer, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning team.\nAccountability to Participants and Stakeholders\nMercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to our program\nparticipants, community partners, other stakeholders, and to international standards guiding international relief and\ndevelopment work. We are committed to actively engaging communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring,\nand evaluation of our field projects.\n\nMinimum Qualification \u0026amp; Transferable Skills\n• A degree or pursuing a degree in a relevant field such as data science, computer science, statistics,\ninformation management, or a related discipline.\n• Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Excel, SPSS, or Power Bi, a basic understanding of statistical\nconcepts and data visualization techniques.\n• Familiarity with form-building platforms like Commcare and ODK.\n• Familiarity with database and programming tools, such as MS SQL, XML, and Python.\n• Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey data insights and present findings to\ndiverse audiences. Fluency in Arabic and English for effective communication within the team and with\nstakeholders.\n• Familiarity with data cleaning, data transformation, and data validation techniques.\n• Commitment to maintaining data privacy and confidentiality. Adherence to ethical guidelines and data\nprotection regulations.\nLiving Conditions / Environmental Conditions\nThe position is based in Amman, Jordan and it requires up to 30% travel to Jordanian’s governorates to support\nimplementing the program activities.\nMercy Corps team members represent the agency both during and outside work hours.
