MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To assist with the implementation and maintenance of a functional Infection Prevention and Control programme at hospital level

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

  1. To provide leadership and management guidance on infection prevention and control matters for the allocated business units
  2. To provide leadership and guidance to the nursing team
  3. To ensure risks are identified and evidenced based practice is recommended and followed as per  legislative, regulatory and clinical standards to ensure continuous quality improvement and to mitigate risks
  4. To manage allocated clinical and non-clinical resources in a cost effective and efficient manner to enhance safe and quality patient care

REQUIRED EDUCATION

Essential: Nursing qualification (degree or diploma)

Desired: Advanced education in infection control

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Essential: 2-3 Years’ experience working in a hospital environment as a professional healthcare practitioner 

Desired: One year Infection Prevention and Control related work

Experience as an infection control practitioner / infection control nurse in a hospital

REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Data analysis and interpretation
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the application of relevant Infection Prevention and Control principles
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to identify risks and conduct Infection Prevention and Control Surveillance
  • Knowledge of relevant statutory requirements and accreditation standards
  • Quality management and governance standards and best practice
  • Report writing skills
  • Verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Sound knowledge of international (e.g. CDC, NHSN) and local criteria and guidelines to identify and report health care associated infections
