We are seeking a Senior HR professional who can influence and lead change in a complex organisation working in a highly competitive market. This is a great opportunity to work for one of the world’s leading engineering design consultancies who are looking to significantly grow operations in Egypt.

As a member of the Egypt leadership team, you will help define the countries HR Strategy, working closely with the country GM and HR colleagues to ensure the strategy supports the business growth and is in line with the regional and global People Strategy.  As a key member of the regional HR team, you will work closely with your regional counterparts as well as the People Hub in India to ensure we have efficient and standardised processes.

The business is actively modernising the delivery of HR services and to strengthen the Regional Centres of Expertise in Reward, Resourcing and Learning and Development, as well as investing in our systems and technology to create a best in class administration and support function. You will play a critical Business Change Management role in affecting these changes.

This is a key role reporting functionally to the HR Director for UAE, Egypt and Oman, but working closely with the local General Manager, GTC in India and senior management teams.

The post is based in Egypt and responsible for providing comprehensive HR services to your business as well as contributing to the Middle East region’s HR projects.

 

Key duties

  • Manage complex employee relations casework including dispute resolutions, disciplinaries, grievances, absence, retirement and redundancy.
  • Apply HR and business knowledge evidencing appropriate decision making skills.
  • Advise managers on the terms and conditions of employment and knowledge share best practice with them.
  • Develop HR policy and procedures for Egypt to drive performance and mitigate disputes. Ensure these are in line with regional and corporate HR guidelines, as well as incorporating the People Hub.
  • Work with the HR Centres of Expertise (Talent Acquisition, Reward, Global Mobility and L&TD  to ensure the Egypt operation benefit from the wider HR groups HR expertise.
  • Provide first line advice on current and existing benefits for employees and managers.
  • Design, implement and carry out new starter inductions.
  • Manage talent and succession planning.
  • Drive alignment between HR strategy and business goals.
  • Continuously monitor and review HR policies and processes and implement changes where necessary.
  • Participate in the implementation of specific projects, procedures and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the organisation.
  • Support change management processes.
  • Work with the Egypt GM to align the Global Technology Centres (GTC) strategy, goals and core purpose with the structure and culture of the Egypt operation.
  • Actively engage with Line Managers and staff to influence behaviours and facilitate organisation change
  • Proactively manage employee relations issues to enhance the employer/employee relationship
  • Manage and contribute to regional and Middle East HR projects as required.
  • Actively manage and coach the Egypt HR team members
  • Ensure that the Egypt HR team follows standard working processes in the use of the company HRMS (Workday).

Relationships

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key business stakeholders in order to understand business issues and priorities.
  • Develop effective working relationships with local and regional Finance leaders so as to understand the financial and commercial issues of the business.
  • Establish a reputation for being credible, reliable and for getting things done.
  • Develop effective working relationships with colleagues in central and regional HR functions as necessary including the Global Mobility, Reward and L&TD
  • Benchmark with peer group HR professionals in country to keep abreast with current practices.
  • Develop and manage relationships with supply chain partners as appropriate to gain maximum value from such relationships.

Requirements

  • A Bachelors degree HR Management or a relevant discipline
  • Advanced standing and Professional Membership of an appropriate HR Institution
  • Detailed knowledge of Egyptian labor law
  • Demonstrable progressive HR experience at senior level in a complex professional services environment
  • Exceptional organisational and communication skills is required together with proven leadership capabilities and solid knowledge of employment legislation and its application
  • Able to manage the complexity of delivering to meet business needs and doing so within Middle East HR Policy framework
  • Experience in planning, managing and successfully delivering on a large change project involving numerous stakeholders
  • Grounded commercial understanding of how the business works
  • Experienced in developing and supporting line managers through change
  • An ability to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion and diplomacy is crucial
