<p>British international schools in Kurdistan-Erbil is seeking an English Teacher who has experience in Edexcel IGCSE and A Levels for the academic year 2023-2024.</p><p><br></p><p>The candidate must have a bachelor’s or Masters’s in the subject with a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in international schools.</p><p>Please apply in the email below, mentioning the job title in the subject line of your emails:</p><p>hr@bis-kurdistan.co.uk</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Job description</strong></p><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong>[Teacher]</strong></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>The purpose of the role</strong>: To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program according to the year level that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfil their academic potential.</p><p><br></p><p>Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Teaching and Learning</strong></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Ø Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.</p><p>Ø Develops schemes of work, lesson plans and tests that are in accordance with established procedures.</p><p>Ø Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.</p><p>Ø Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.</p><p>Ø Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.</p><p>Ø Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.</p><p>Ø Update all necessary records accurately and ultimately as required by school regulations.</p><p>Ø Prepare required reports on students and activities.</p><p>Ø Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments.</p><p>Ø Prepare pupils for qualifications and external examinations.</p><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong>Student Progress</strong></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Ø Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use the information to adjust teaching strategies.</p><p>Ø Maintain accurate and complete records of student’s progress and development.</p><p>Ø Observe and evaluate student’s performance and development.</p><p>Ø Undertake pastoral duties, such as taking on the role of a form tutor and supporting pupils on an individual basis through academic or personal difficulties</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Communication and Development</strong></p><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Ø Participate in department, school, district and parent meetings.</p><p>Ø Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.</p><p>Ø Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.</p><p>Ø To actively participate in performance management to set and agree, monitor and evaluate annual performance targets aligned with school policy.</p><p>Ø Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emails.</p><p>Ø Participate in appropriate professional activities.</p><p>Ø Undergo regular observations and participate in regular in-service training as part of continuing professional development</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Student Welfare</strong></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Ø Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.</p><p>Ø Advice on and refer as appropriate to any concerns relating to student welfare or safeguarding.</p><p>Ø Liaise with other professionals, such as learning mentors, careers advisers, educational psychologists and education welfare officers and support student progress.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Other</strong></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Ø Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organisations as directed.</p><p>Ø Research new topic areas, maintain up-to-date subject knowledge and devise and write new curriculum materials as directed by the Department Head.</p><p>Ø to actively participate in performance management to set and agree, monitor and evaluate annual performance targets aligned with school policy.</p><p>Ø Perform any other duties and tasks as assigned</p>
