Job Description
Work in GIS teams to develop, test, Integrate, implement, and support solutions using GIS platforms like (ESRI,QGIS). Understand client needs to scope out the nature and purpose of the information required by clients. Develop GIS mapping applications and geoprocessing tools. Collect, store, analyze and present geographical and spatial information. Undertake desk-based data capture (digitizing) to convert paper maps to GIS datasets. Create and maintain the structures necessary for GIS data storage. Develop tools for loading/transferring GIS data between different systems. Manipulate, analyze, and present geographical information by creating programs to convert GIS information from one format to another. Develop internet apps to present GIS data and tools on corporate websites. Use tools to join different GIS datasets and create new information or investigate patterns Stay current with latest developments in GIS field Assist in quality assurance checks on GIS systems and recommend updates or new techniques when applicable
Personal Skills
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred Computer Science or Engineering A minimum of 4 years of total experience 2 or more years of in GIS platforms Strong written and oral communication skills. IT skills, including the use and manipulation of complex databases and spreadsheets Numerical skills with the ability to analyze data and statistics The ability to translate client requirements into working solutions Familiarity with Ordnance Survey mapping and digitizing techniques Presentation skills & project management skills Self-motivation, a proactive attitude to work and attention to detail Teamworking skills and the ability to work independently Ability to multi-task and work under pressure Excellent leadership and people management skills Excellent command of English Excellent verbal and written communication skills; influencing skills and ability to work effectively in a geographically dispersed team
Technical Skills
• knowledge of specialized software packages such as ESRI ArcGIS and QGIS.
• At least 2-years’ experience in GIS.
• Hands on Python and/or JavaScript.
• numerical skills with the ability to analyze data and statistics.
• the ability to translate client requirements into working solutions.
• Familiarity with Ordnance Survey mapping and digitizing techniques.
• GIS scripting / Programming Experience.
• GIS Integration with Another systems API like (PowerBI, Maximo)
• IT skills, including the use and manipulation of complex databases and spreadsheets.
