SUMMARY:   VSE is looking for a qualified Small Boat Hull, Mechanical, &amp; Electrical (HM&amp;E) team leader for its Federal &amp; Defense Services Business sector, to support the Iraq Vessel Maintenance and Repair Program. This position shall have duties in the in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of 27ft Safeboat Defenders boats.  <p><br></p>This position is located in Umm Qasr, Iraq and reports to the VSE In-Country Manager in Umm Qasr. This program supports the Iraqi Navy (IqN) in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of their naval vessels (35m Patrol Boats, 60m Offshore Support Vessels, 27 ft. Defenders, Dredgers) as well as shore facilities. While this position primarily supports the 27ft Safeboat Defenders boats, experience and willingness to assist on other platforms is a major plus. <p><br></p>DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES : <p><br></p><ul><li>Execute maintenance, repair and overhaul/installation of 27ft. Safeboat Defenders, to include work on: </li><li>Engines/Propulsion (Mercury and Yamaha outboards) </li><li>Wiring and electrical components </li><li>Electronics equipment (radar, communications) </li><li>Hull and deck </li><li>Paint </li><li>Lead a team of third-party nationals with backgrounds in small boat repair in the described duties. </li><li>Perform test and evaluation, check-out, certification tasks.  </li><li>Review Engineering Change Proposals for equipment impacts. </li><li>Assist in accomplishing Engineering Change Instructions. </li><li>Develop technical/engineering data for Planned Maintenance Systems, technical manuals, troubleshooting procedures, drawing updates, operating procedures, maintainability improvements, and test reports. </li><li>Support systems engineering activities with subject matter expertise. </li><li>Assist in training others in the operation and performance of systems. </li><li>Plan and coordinate work of other engineering technicians and related positions. </li><li>Establish and maintain a filing system, databases and logs as needed for tracking project status and inventory. </li><li>Direct on-site customer interface for equipment/system installation, testing, survey, fabrication, and other engineering tasks as needed. </li><li>Comply with engineering documentation standards, engineering plans, system specifications and test procedures. </li><li>Provide technical data and evaluation for components, equipment, and systems consistent with engineering plans, layout, and contract requirements. </li><li>May support engineers in the development of technical proposal and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work. </li><li>Provide schedules of work, to include hours per task, to management. </li></ul><p><br></p>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:   <p><br></p><ul><li>High School / GED</li><li>Vocational/technical training provided by US Navy or US Coast Guard </li><li>At least 5 years of similar experience </li><li>Excellent communications and analytical skills </li><li>Working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs </li><li>Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software </li></ul><p><br></p><strong><u>Other</u></strong><p><br></p><ul><li>The selected applicant will be subject to a background check and drug testing.</li></ul><p><br></p>Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
