The Field Services Engineer role is responsible for the coordination, management and execution of Field Services activities supporting other Service Functions (SF) in Operations and Engineering when in-site activities must be performed, to ensure that services provided to customers are continuously available and are in line with Service Level Agreement (SLA) performance levels. The Field Services Service Function is composed of a number of Services Elements and Activities that define the scope of work according to Ericsson’s Managed Services offer. This Job Role is a local function and will perform mostly in-site activities for the other Operations functions (especially as a result of engineering or deployment activities). The Field Services Engineer must ensure that work is executed within the Project OHS requirements.

This role has the overall responsibility for 24/7 365 end-to-end Event, Incident, Change and Performance Management and Continual Service Improvement.

  1. Preventive Maintenance Execution
  2. Corrective Maintenance Execution
  3. 3rd Part Supervision
  4. Site Information Management
  5. Spare Parts Handling
  6. Work Order Handling
  7. Learning & Development

 

Key Activities:

  • Preventive maintenance of physical sites to meet the required PM cycle
  • Perform quality checks and regular maintenance to ensure site safety as per Occupational Health and safety laws
  • Corrective maintenance of all sites on the network in-line with contractual KPI obligations
  • Supporting and managing sub-contractor works
  • Maintaining updated network site & inventory information
  • Management of spare parts and coordination of the associated logistics, performing regular updates of the spare parts database
  • Change request handling
  • Perform RFI Acceptance for new sites
  • Perform RFA Acceptance for new sites, expansions and upgrades
  • Support other teams within the organization e.g. Front office, back office and Operator team
  • Trouble Report handling and following up on faults escalated by the other party until closure of the case
  • Driving the company vehicle during shifting time
  • Working on morning shift / night shift based on monthly roster schedule
  • Committing to continuous development, on-on-the-job training activities, and owning the overall self-competence management and development plan

 

Technical Competence required:

  • Sound knowledge of all mobile network structures and topology
  • Excellent knowledge of Field operations and maintenance routines. Hands-on experience with BTS transmission equipment
  • An excellent understanding of the RAN network element of Ericsson
  • Extensive knowledge and sophisticated troubleshooting skills for the Ericsson RAN network element, such as Baseband 6620/6630 etc.
  • Good knowledge and troubleshooting skills of Microwave links and prior working experience with Ericsson Microwave (Mini-Link 6000 series ML6691, ML6693, E-band ML6352 etc) and IP Routers (Router-6274, Router-6672, CSR-6471/1 etc.)
  • Must possess in-depth knowledge and troubleshooting skills of Ericsson Site controller-ESC (SCU 09 01) and familiarity with Enclosure 6140
  • Good knowledge of Rectifier Management panel MC1800 and MC2600, etc.
  • Must display a broad understanding of the network implementation/integration processes

Experience required:

  • A minimum of 0 -1 year of current experience from working in a Field Services Operations and Maintenance role is required
  • Fresh university Graduates are acceptable

 

Education /Certifications:

A bachelor’s degree in Engineering

 

To be successful in this role you must:

  • Be willing to relocate from one region to another (across Oman) at any given time, based on business needs
  • Have the flexibility to work on a roster-based shift and on-call basis (this includes working on public holidays, Ramadhan, and Eid)
  • Have flexiblity and be adaptable to changing work patterns and demands
  • Be able to work within tight time scales
  • Be prepared to be involved in network-related emergency-handling activities
  • Have a valid driving license from Oman and the ability to drive the company vehicle
  • Be fit as per the annual medical check-up report based on the job requirements
  • Follow all company OHS guidelines and regulations
