Key Relationships

Outlet manager, Operations Manager, General Manager, Suppliers, Colleagues, Team Members and Guests.

Key Responsibilities

To have a complete working knowledge of the Menu daily buffet, Wine List and any special Promotion, being able to answer guest queries quickly, knowledgeably and in a discreet manner in line with the highest standards stipulated in the SPPS Manual.
To take charge of all the stations and overlook Waiters, Waitress in all aspects of their work.
To organize and carry out all mise-en-place duties prior to service to the required standards.
To organize set-up and clear tables prior to, during and after service, ensuring that the highest standards are maintained.
To take food and beverage orders in a professional manner, taking every opportunity to maximise sales in a discreet manner. Throughout up selling strategies
To prepare and check guest bills and to receive payment from the guest.
To ensure that par stocks specified in the Operations Manual are correct and maintained at all times.
To deputise for the Head Waiter when required, ensuring continuity of service to the guest at all times.
To take reservations, welcome and seat guests in the absence of the Hostess.
Supervise staff on their side duties and ensuring that their semi and monthly Reports are adhered to.
To ensure that all service stations are clean and well in order all times
Supervises pre-preparations of service and notifies Head Waiter/Manager of any guest complaints and inquiries and maintain internal Log Book.
Maintains discipline, punctuality and checks grooming and hygiene ofstaff.
To brief staff about the β€˜Special of the Day’ and availability of items.
To have a full knowledge of weights and measures act and licensing laws and to strictly adhere to the provisions set.
To take full charge and responsibility of specially assigned duties.
To carry out any other reasonable tasks required by your Head Waiter,Manager, Department Head or Management.
To ensure that linen standards and usage is maintained at all times.
To consistently provide and maintain the highest standard of guest care and service.
To ensure that you and all reporting staff maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and grooming at all times.
To ensure that designated uniforms are worn well pressed and in a good state of repair and to ensure that name badges are worn at all times.
To assist your Outlet Manager in maintaining and updating the departmental Service Standards Manual.
To ensure that you and all reporting staff demonstrate the required Service Standards.
To assist your Outlet Manager in regularly monitoring staff performance against agreed criteria.
To have a good knowledge of all hotel facilities and be able to answer guest questions in a quick, polite and helpful manner.
To handle any guest complaints or problems promptly and to ensure that all resolved/unresolved incidents are reported to your Outlet Manager.
To ensure company, hotel and statutory rules, regulations and policies are adhered to at all times.
To act on your responsibilities for Health and Safety at work.
* To demonstrate a working knowledge of fire prevention and to ensure that staff follow the hotel evacuation procedures on hearing the alarm.
