Job Description

<p><strong>Position Overview:</strong></p><p>The Environmental Specialist develops environmental impact assessments, environmental impact statements, pollution studies, noise assessments, field studies and surveys, etc. for projects. The job holder assesses and will be in charge of all the environmental impacts of engineering projects, environmental effects, and potential mitigation measures to offset negative environmental effects. The job holder works closely with Project Managers for the review and validation of environmental studies findings with respective clients and authorities. Additionally, S/he will provide guidance to the contractor to ensure full compliance with these measures and report on compliance.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>Responsibilities </strong></p><ul><li>Collect and analyze external data including relevant environmental regulations and previously conducted environmental studies for projects</li><li>Conduct pre-assessment studies and organize and execute field studies and surveys for environmental studies</li><li>Gather and analyze information related to the environmental effect of proposed projects, including project information and local environmental data for environmental studies</li><li>Develop conclusions on the environmental effects assessment and potential mitigation measures for the negative effects of proposed projects</li><li>Develop Environmental Impact Statements and Reports showcasing Impact Assessment findings for studies</li><li>Validate and review deliverables with clients and authorities and incorporate comments for environmental studies</li><li>Support Project Managers in developing, reviewing, and updating work programs and man-hour estimates and in managing changes in project scope, schedule, or budgets, as needed</li><li>Support Project Managers in managing project contractual risks, as needed</li><li>Assist Project Managers with implementing quality control policies and procedures on deliverables and conduct peer reviews on team members’ deliverables</li><li>Instruct the contractor on measures to ensure full compliance with these measures as well as report on such compliance.</li><li>Advise on any penalties that should be imposed on the contractor should there is no compliance.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field (e.g. Environmental Science)</li><li>5+ years of industry experience in environmental studies, environmental impact assessment, environmental management, and monitoring.</li><li>Track record of environmental impact assessments and environmental studies</li><li>Understanding of international and regional environmental regulations and codes</li><li>Excellent quantitative and analytical skills</li><li>Strong communication and presentation skills</li><li>Strong interpersonal and leadership skills</li><li>Proficient in Arabic and English</li></ul>
