<p><strong>Key responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>editing and proofreading ELT textbooks and related materials to the highest standards of style and accuracy</li><li>researching and adapting material according to specific cultures or markets</li><li>writing new material in the process of making cultural adaptations</li><li>Working according to a consistency checklist or style guide</li><li>preparing artwork briefs and searching for appropriate images</li><li>developing content for interactive activities</li><li>matching different components of a book and detecting inconsistencies</li><li>reviewing and quality control of the content in interactive books</li><li>ensuring processes and schedules are adhered to</li><li>troubleshooting problems and implementing solutions</li><li>quality-checking typescripts throughout the copyediting process</li></ul><p><strong>Skills</strong></p><ul><li>strong copyediting and proofreading skills with a great eye for detail</li><li>a perceptive view regarding design features in schoolbooks</li><li>time management skills (respecting dates)</li><li>ability to work under pressure and to meet fixed deadlines</li><li>critical-thinking skills</li><li>high level of motivation</li><li>highly developed interpersonal and organizational skills</li><li>sensitivity to specific cultural requirements</li><li>ability to quickly adapt to challenging situations</li></ul><p><strong>The ideal candidate will have:</strong></p><ul><li>a degree in English Literature, Linguistics or Education</li><li>excellent English language communication skills, both spoken and written</li><li>a good understanding of the needs of teachers and learners</li><li>a demonstrable interest in and preferably experience of English language teaching</li><li>knowledge in the differences between British English and American English (not a must)</li><li>knowledge of international English tests such as the SAT (not a must)</li><li>knowledge of basic computer skills</li></ul><p></p>
