<ul><li>Provide &amp; maintain a safe work environment. Demonstrate leadership with all company &amp; industry safe work processes to prevent all injuries.</li><li>Monitor operation of all substations and circuits in the Division’s area of responsibility. Maintains clearance, hold tag and work permit logs; switching programs, points of isolation, PSA to show total system configuration and provides system. operational guidance in his area. Ensures that logs and regular reports are maintained on dispatch activities.</li><li>Develop detailed switching instructions and procedures for scheduled outages, emergencies and control of system disturbances and is responsible for overall impact on the system. Orders system paralleling and breaking of parallel. Issues Hot Work Permits, Cold Work Permits and confined space permit in very limited cases and with special countermeasures. </li><li>Issue clearances and work permits, using established procedures, to authorized personnel. Ensures that work permit receivers are aware of the limits of the clearances and work permits and adhere to all applicable safety requirements.</li><li>Provide clearances for additions and deletions of load to the distribution system.</li><li>During emergencies, directs efforts to isolate the cause of trouble and returns the system to normal operations. Directs switchmen, work crews, and efforts for repairs to facilities for restoration of power.</li><li>Coordinate line wash and substation wash schedules with other operating scheduling and requirements.</li><li>Participate in training of personnel and conducts safety meetings. Trains personnel from other units who are candidates for switching duties under the direction of the Supervising Electric System Operator. Trains candidates prior to Authorization to Use Approved Potential Testers as required in PDI 10.1.</li><li>Ensure system drawings and/or PSA are kept current and accurate.</li><li>Monitor for safe work practices on the job sites.</li><li>Make decision to perform line patrol after system disturbances and prior to re-energization based on information from Electric System Operators in the field and local knowledge of lines/cables/equipment.</li><li>Perform other miscellaneous duties as directed by the Supervisor.</li></ul><p><br></p><strong>Technical:</strong><p><br></p><strong>Requirements</strong><p><br></p><ul><li>High command of English writing &amp;reading.</li><li>Degree of electrical diploma.</li><li>Experience of electrical operation field at least 8 years.</li><li>Worked in an electrical industrial field 480v up to 380KV.</li><li>Knowledge on electrical protection system (types of relays, and preliminary knowledge of functions and reasons of malfunction).</li><li>High quality of communication with all electrical system end users.</li><li>Ability of making switching program isolation and restorations for electrical system in all levels of voltage 480v to 380v KV.</li><li>Full knowledge of the GIS system.</li><li>Knowledge on the Transformer types.</li><li>Knowledge of all types of switchgears and motor starters.</li><li>Knowledge of battery charges.</li><li>Knowledge of the ATS functions (Auto Transfer Switches).</li><li>Must have experience in working in industrial plants e.g., gas plants, high industries, and petrochemical plants electrical generation and distribution plant. </li><li>Knowledge of industrial safety and the proper use of PPE.</li><li>Knowledge of the Arc flash types.</li><li>Knowledge about types of EDGs.</li><li>Knowledge of remote electrical system monitor and controls.</li><li>Ability of controlling emergency e.g., electrical black out etc.</li><li>Ability to write shift reports.</li><li>Ability of knowledge exchange.</li><li>Can drive (ESO must be able to drive otherwise cannot add value to the shift).</li><li>Has full skill of monitoring and controlling the electrical system for the power dispatcher.</li><li>Has full skill of using communication media.</li><li>Has computer skills.</li><li>Ability to read and interpret SLD.</li><li>Ability to write shift data and events in a formal manner.</li><li>Ability to use testing equipment and hot sticks in an ideal manner.</li><li>Ability of initial fault finding and electrical system trouble shooting. </li><li>High command of performing electrical system isolation and restoration through the PSA or similar system.</li><li>A thorough knowledge of electrical safety procedures and requirements with a confirmed and dedicated attitude towards safety and a proven determination to enforce safe work habits.</li><li>Comprehensive knowledge of safe operation, capability, and system impact on electrical transmission and distribution equipment under all working, weather, and physical conditions.</li></ul>
