General Role Description

The Digital Delivery Director (DDD) leads the Digital Delivery department with the purpose to delivery optimized project delivery through the project lifecycle by leveraging our digital technologies and critical digital resources that support proposals and projects.  The Digital Delivery Department would include three primary groups of staff: Digital e Managers, PIMs, and PDS (project delivery services – system admins).  As an active and visible promoter of the use of integrated, cost-effective and appropriate technology in order to facilitate core business practices, the Digital Delivery Director (DDD) provides effective leadership and communication of accurate data, documents and information within a project environment utilizing specified applications, systems technology and tools, to deliver life cycle information in accordance with Customer requirements.

Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities:

The Digital Delivery Director (DDD) is responsible for leading digital delivery scope of a project, reporting directly to the Location/Operations Manager.  This includes development and implementation of the Digital PEP (Project Execution Plan), the project integrated systems map, and identifying and managing any software and staffing support requirements to ensure project contractual requirements are met. Any non-standard digital requirements are consulted and managed by the DEM who consults with other SMEs when needed such as I&DD and Customer Solutions. Also responsible for digital strategy and tools in the proposal phase.  This director is also responsible for growing and managing the critical resources to deliver the digital scope on our projects.

 

Responsibilities in Managing Digital Delivery Department

  • Manages budget and resources to deliver project delivery digital scope including Digital Execution Managers (DEMs), Project Information Managers (PIMs), and Project Delivery Services (project system admins)
  • Accountable to Operations leaders at the Location
  • Responsible for overseeing the delivery the digital scope of projects (systems and data) Responsible for setting digital strategy and systems map in opening game through project execution that aligns with the overall project execution strategy
  • Accountable for Standard Tools Deviation approvals within their location
  • Lead rollout of digital tools transformation and digital transformation initiatives across
  • Engaged in all key bids and endorse digital tools selection and digital execution strategy
  • Support Sales in the inclusion of Digitization and Automation elements in proposals for new contracts where relevant.
  • Functionally responsible for all PDS, PIMs and Project Digital Execution Managers in [location, region] including recruitment, allocation, development, performance and remuneration
  • Collaborate with global Tools & Digital teams to maximize digital solutions for customer needs (via Digital Value Enablement sessions if applicable)
  • Contributes to licensing and commercial strategies and needs
  • Coordinates with PMs, PEs, MOE, and other impacted discipline leads
  • Coordinates with I&DD (IT) on software and hardware requirements

 

The Digital Delivery  team stewards and has oversight in the following activities (but may not actually perform the work).

  • Is responsible for the overall project digital execution strategy and is the focal point for any planning and decisions regarding what systems, tools, data integration & handover, hosting & access requirements to meet the contractual requirements and protect Worley’s position to successfully deliver.
  • Being the location and where applicable the project focal-point for data-centric execution.
  • Guide Establishing methods for data governance and the protection of confidential information.
  • Approve, facilitating the purchase and/or deployment of software as required by the IPMT Team.
  • Work collaboratively with customer to ensure accurate delivery of information by EPC’s meets customers’ requirements.
  • Stewardship and enforcing common standards and work practices that facilitate multi-office/company project execution (work-sharing) and electronic data interchange, such as:
    • Project Numbering Systems
    • Plant Breakdown Structure
    • Systems-based workflows
  • Coordinating setup and implementation of project delivery and operation systems in-line with project schedule.
  • Identifying the Project’s information, data, hardware, network, and system needs
  • Educating the team in the Information Management requirements and the benefits to be gained
  • Influencing project execution strategy to take advantage of the preferred systems and software tools
  • Active participant in the sales process for recommending solutions to meet customer business strategies and objectives, and to identify digital opportunities to improve Worley competitiveness and profitability.
  • Develops and maintains the Information Management section of the Project Execution Plan.
  • Coordinates with relevant functional managers regarding integrated system selection, implementation planning, delivery, management, support, and digital handover to ensure project and customer expectations are met.
  • Establishes project data ownership by discipline and ensures that all data is populated and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
  • As the project focal-point for data-centric execution, ensures the project execution workflow and the informational needs of each project stakeholder is met so that the project can be executed in a seamless manner.
  • Assures, through ongoing and periodic assessments and reviews, that the project’s data quality objectives are being met.
  • Defines and enforces processes that ensure appropriate access controls over electronic project documents and data, including project document and data repositories, websites, and project file servers.
  • Implements and operates a framework of controls and management strategies to deliver compliance with client intellectual property protection requirements.
  • Plans, implements, and controls the project life cycle management of digitally organized information and records.
  • Primary interface point between the Project Execution and Systems teams. Manages the system specialists within the project team.
  • Ensures the whole project team understands, supports, and adheres to customer and Worley digital project execution requirements.
  • Provides leadership, advice, and coordinates training to help transition the organization and people to a data-centric and digital project execution future state.

Knowledge/Experience/Competency Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or related degree
  • Minimum of 15-20 years of experience delivering digital solutions in Oil and Gas and/or Mining industries
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills working with the customer
  • Ability to plan, orchestrate effectively across organizational boundaries
  • Demonstrate customer interaction professionalism – listening, ability to ask insightful questions, build consensus, advance opportunities to next level
  • Ability to frame customer business and technical imperatives, and inspiring confidence with a variety of internal and external constituents
  • Build alliances and seek cross-functional support to achieve success
  • 15+ year hands on experience delivering project delivery systems
  • Ability to manage staff, set example and demonstrate leadership
  • Must have ability to build relationships with the customer IT and technical stakeholders
  • Plan, organize and scale the high-quality delivery required within set timeline and deadlines
  • Identify and implement system architecture best practices and standards
  • Technical acumen required for system scalability, availability, and performance activities
  • Capable of technical deep dives into infrastructure, databases, and applications as needed, yet cognitively agile enough to have strategy discussions with leadership
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately with corporate executives and technical teams.
  • Excellent influencing and reasoning skills; good at conflict resolution and consensus building.
  • Ability to occasionally travel to customer sites
  • Experience building & managing high performing teams
