Job Description

Responsibilities:

Design Management:

  • Working closely with the project design team of mainly architects, drafter and modelers, in addition to the other design disciplines engineers, external resources of specialists, subconsultants, freelancers, client and various stakeholders to ensure successful design preparation, development and delivery.
  • Taking ownership of project’s design from inception to completion and ensuring adherence to project scope, timeline, and budget, in addition to the relevant design codes, standards and advised design considerations as communicated by the Design Project Manager.
  • Supporting at the development and compliance with the project resources, quality time and budget plans.
  • Identification of design process related project risks, and implementing corrective and preventive actions with the appropriate mitigation strategies. And recording accordingly at the lessons learned registers.
  • Coordinating the design with all cross-functional design disciplines, to ensure seamless design and required support during construction of the design.
  • Conducting the necessary projects assignment, task and time management for the architectural design team.
  • Monitoring and controlling he resources allocation as per the project plan for the architectural design team, as per the resources’ allocation plan set by the head of Architectural section.
  • Communicating design scope contractual cost, time and quality requirements to the design team.
  • Supporting the Head of Architectural Section in establishing ALSUWEIDI library for the design, modelling and drafting works.
  • All project related requirements shall be communicated through the Design Project Manager; hence all necessary project related reporting and communications ill be directly with the Design project Manager to ensure full contractual compliance with the project scope and delivering the best design services.

Client Collaboration:

  • Engaging with clients to understand their project requirements, objectives, and design preferences, as directed by the Design Project Manager.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to clients throughout the design process.
  • Fostering strong client relationships and managing expectations effectively.
  • Presenting design concepts and proposals to clients and obtaining necessary approvals.
  • Reporting the design status and requested information to clients and relevant stakeholders.
  • Representing ALSUWEIDI at client, prospect clients, authorities and any other stakeholder design communications, presentations, meetings, workshops, etc.

Design Coordination:

  • Collaborating with other architects, interior designers, and other design professionals to develop innovative, coordinated and functional design solutions presented in design drawings, presentations and documents.

  • Ensuring design concepts align with project requirements, goals, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Coordinating design reviews, presentations, and workshops.
  • Communicating design scope details to the design team.
  • Supporting disciplines design and QS engineers and specialists with bench mark, reference information.
  • Coordinating between the head of architectural section, Design Project Manager/s and the design team.
  • Facilitating effective communication and collaboration among design team members and the project management.

Quality Control:

  • Ensuring the quality, accuracy, and completeness of design deliverables.
  • Conducting regular design reviews to identify and address any discrepancies.
  • Conducting the necessary technical support and coaching for the architectural design team, and communicate the required tools and techniques to ALSUWEIDI management to ensure delivering the best performance and resources efficiency.
  • Executing performance evaluation for the architectural design team and main supporting internal and external design team members.
  • Executing the necessary prequalification and performance assessment of the external design team of subconsultants, freelancers and specialists.
  • Verifying compliance with building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Implementing quality control procedures to maintain high standards, avoiding scope creep and abortive work throughout the design process, as per project/client or ALSUWEIDI procedures and policies.

Budget and Cost Management:

  • Monitoring project design process budgets and expenditures.
  • Tracking costs related to design activities, subconsultant, specialists and freelancers’ fees and tools and techniques costs.
  • Identifying cost-saving opportunities and propose value engineering options without compromising design quality, and providing the necessary value engineering guidelines to the design team.
  • Advising on the design costs financial reports, forecasts, and projects change orders.
  • Providing necessary studies and information for projects’ pricing, cost comparison, monitoring and controlling.

Contract Management:

  • Reviewing and negotiating design agreements with subcontractors and specialists.
  • Ensuring projects design scope contractual obligations are fulfilled and supporting at contract variations or disputes studies and correspondences.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Managing project design documentation, including drawings, presentations, design reports, specifications, cost reports, BoQs and correspondences.
  • Preparing design progress reports, design briefs, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Supporting at project design documentation for handover and record-keeping purposes.

Skills

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Architectural design.
  • Professional project management certifications or affiliations with international project management organizations, such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) from the Project Management Institute (PMI) or MBA.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a design project management, including 2 years in UAE, preferably in Abu Dhabi.
  • Communication skills: Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English and preferably Arabic.
  • Leadership skills: Strong leadership skills to motivate and guide the project team towards achieving project goals.
  • Time management skills: Proven effective time management and tasks prioritization, and awareness of time scheduling, monitoring and controlling tools and techniques
  • Risk management skills: Excellent ability to identify and mitigate potential risks that can negatively impact the project’s success.
  • Technical skills: Very good awareness of the design projects process, success factors and required resources.
  • Budget management skills: Very good ability to manage the project budget and ensure that the project is completed within the allocated budget.
  • Problem-solving skills: Very good critical thinking and problems solving capabilities.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft office programs
  • Very good proficiency in projects time scheduling and monitoring programs
  • Knowledge in computer aided drafting and modelling software, such as Auto. CAD and REVIT.
